I remember reading a pride and prejudice fanfiction some years ago and I just can't seem to be able to find it again.
I've been searching for weeks, so it would be greatly appreciated if someone could tell me the name of the story!
Here's what I remember from the story:
Elizabeth is travelling with her Aunt and Uncle Gardiner. She decides to go shopping (to buy a gift for her sisters? I'm not too sure). Elizabeth meets Mr Darcy unexpectedly and they enter a hat shop.
Darcy fibs to Elizabeth about accompanying her, saying that he needs to buy something for Georgiana to which Elizabeth is incredulous.
The woman behind the counter puffs up proudly when she recognizes Darcy and offers her assistance in a very deferential way (Mr Darcy! What an honour etc...)- to which he just replies 'I want a hat'. I remember laughing really hard at this part- it shows perfectly how he is so used to deferential treatment and his social awkwardness.
They walk out together after purchasing some thing or another, and he invites her to meet his sister, I think. I remember the Gardiners supposing that he is partial to Elizabeth after learning of the encounter.
This is as far as I remember- if you know which story this is, please please do not hesitate to comment! Even if you're unsure, please do tell me.
I sincerely hope the author didn't delete it. It was a wonderful story.
