Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto. The end.
This is a one-shot. I'm thinking of making it into a story. But I'm not exactly sure yet.
The deep, struggling breath she took in made her ex-sensei flinch. She lay on her bed with her arms wrapped tightly atound her legs. Her head was buried in her knees as her body lay curled into a tight ball. Kakashi sighed softly and placed a hand on Sakura's back. She shivered.
"Sakura.." Kakashi didn't know what to say. Being a ninja, he has been through many deaths, a lot of low blows, and a million friendships. But with Sakura, he experienced all three in the time-span of ten years. She was his student, his friend, his lover and his everything. Although Kakashi may never openly admit to how deeply Sakura affected him, at least she would know. They're relationship was kept hidden away. Sakura never even told Naruto or Sasuke, her two best friends and comrades about their relationship. To Kakashi, it shouldn't even be called that. His love for her was something deeper and unexplainable. She moves his soul with a smile or embrace. But now, as she sobs her heart out onto his messy bed and sake-scented sheets, Kakashi for once, is distraught.
"I-I'm so sorry Ka-Kakashi. I should have been m-more careful." Sakure spoke in broken, uneven whispers and Kakashi frowned visibly. Since being with Sakura, Kakashi has since then stopped covering his mouth. It was incredibly inconvenient at times.
Kakashi turned his body so he was laying next to Sakura. His arms wound tight around her but all Sakura could do was cry harder. He made sure their was no space between them before kissing the top of her head.
"It's not your fault no matter what you say Sakura. It was inevitable and Tsunade told you the risks and I was naive enough not to pay more attention." Kakashi narrowed his eyes at his stupidity and hugged Sakura tighter to him. She let out a sigh in return and kissed his hands.
"But, you wanted a son or daughter so badly. I hate that I wasn't strong enough to give you that." Sakura went to smack her head but Kakashi grabbed her hand before she could.
"Sakura, losing our child does not mean that you are weak. You were simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. If anything, I should be the one to blame. I should have accompained you to Tsunade's for your checkup instead of you going by yourself." Sakura gasped softly and turned around, as fast as she could to look at her lover.
"No! I will not put any blame whatsoever on you." Sakura's eyes narrowed at Kakashi's as he simply squinted his eyes in amusement. She turned her head in confusion and awaited his answer.
"Then let's put the blame on nothing. It was an accident. And I'm sure we'll have plenty more chances to start a future together." Kakashi closed his eyes and turned to lay on his back and let out a sigh.
"This is Kami's way of saying that if we can survive this, we can survive anything." Sakura focused her eyes on Kakashi for a few seconds more before letting out a soft sigh, followed by laughter, and fell down next to Kakashi.
"Well, if he wanted to teach us a lesson, why couldn't he have burned your damn books?"
