My name is Ryleigh Rodriguez. And I was only 12 years old when the infamous zombie apocalypse had struck our innocent planet. As far as I know at least. Right now, the last thing that I remember is being in the backyard with my little sister, Clementine, and her babysitter and my friend, Sandra. We were investigating something in the tree house. I remember my little sister being so invested with what's making that noise in the tree house since it has been bugging her for the past couple of days. Clem wanted me to help her see what was in the tree house.

"Hey, everyone. There's something in the tree house and she wants me to get a video of it to show you guys." Sandra stated, pointing the camcorder at Clem, who was starting to climb the tree house. I walk over to the tree house to help her. I look from the tree house to Sandra, she looked amused at what we were doing. "Yeah, it's been bugging her the last couple of days. We're going to investigate it." I say, putting a hand next to my mouth as if we were in one of those documentaries on tv. I've seen enough of them to do know how it's presented. But before we could investigate further, I hear the phone ringing. S

Sandra answers it and I couldn't make what she was saying. "Hey, Ryleigh, Clementine, it's your mom. She wants to talk with you guys." Sandra stated, holding the phone out to us. We walk over to Sandra, almost knocking each other to the ground in the process. "Hi mom!" Clem called. "Hey mom!" I exclaim, standing in front of the phone. "Hi sweethearts. How's everything down there?" mom asked. "Awesome! We found a baby raccoon in the treehouse!" Clem exclaimed excitedly. "Wow that's cool." Mom replied happily. "He's really cute, mom." I say with a smile.

"Make sure you girls don't touch him, okay?" Mom reminded softly. "Okay. Well, we gotta go. Talk to you later." Clem said. Sandra lowered the camera and lowered her voice at what Clem said. "Hey, that's not a nice way to bye to your mother. Ryleigh, maybe you can do a better job at it." Sandra scolded, lowering her voice so mom wouldn't hear.

"You two still there?" Mom asked. Clem took the phone from Sandra and held it firmly with both hands. "Yeah, we're here mom." Clem said softly. "We haven't gone anywhere." I add, kneeling down some. It felt good to talk to our parents and tell them about silly stuff like the raccoon incident. "Hey, don't get my hat dirty. That goes for you too Ryleigh, try not to lose your mother's necklace. We told you two you could borrow them, not keep 'em." Dad piped in, giving us a good reminder about the usage of their stuff. I laughed light at what Dad said. We had ourselves some cool parents.

"Don't stay up too late." Dad reminded Clem. "Okay. But what about Rye-Rye?" she asked, giving me puppy eyes. "Ryleigh, that goes for you too. And you guys be nice to Sandra, okay?" Mom reminded in a motherly tone. I chuckled and reply with, "You can count on us, guys. I'll help Sandra keep little Clem in line."

"Hey!" she exclaimed, giving me a cute mad look. I hear our parents laugh over the phone. "We love you guys. We'll be back in a few days." Mom said, getting me to smile because I was excited to see them when they would return. "Okay, see you soon." we both said. Little did either of us know, that would be the last time we would ever talk to our parents.
