Hello everyone! I was inspired by a tumblr post to see what I could up with given a specific premise. So hopefully this turns out well! I've never written an AU before so here goes!

Disclaimer: I do not own any Sonic characters as they belong to SEGA.

War in the Sky

"Can I see your boarding pass and your ID?" The security officer asked. The pink hedgehog took her boarding pass and ID from her bag and handed them to the officer.

"Hmm...heading to Station Square, huh? Nice place." The officer said, trying to make conversation.

"Yeah, I'm visiting my mom." The pink hedgehog said with a small smile. The officer looked over her ID.

"Well, Miss Amy Rose, you are free to head into the security line. Say hi to your mother for me." The officer said with a smile, handing Amy her pass and ID.

"Thank you, I will." Amy said as she walked into the security line. She put her green backpack onto the conveyor belt and walked through the body scanner and quickly cleared the security check.

Now all that was left to do was to find her gate. She quickly found gate B78 and went to sit down. She had loads of time until her plane arrived. She rolled her eyes, put her headphones in, and listened to music.

All this down-time was giving Amy more than enough time to think of the home she had left; the city of Station Square.

She had lived in Station Square for all of her life, until two years ago, when she left to go to college in Spagonia. She had left behind her mother, and her best friend Cream, as well as a few others that weren't so great. But this was the one time in her two years she had earned enough money to head back, even if it was only for a few days, so she would take the risk of possibly seeing someone she'd rather forget if it meant seeing her mom and Cream again.

The flight was going to be 10 hours long. Wonderful.

Hopefully this flight will be quick. I can't stand flying.

Tired of her own thoughts, Amy stood up from her seat and began to wander the large airport aimlessly.

Amy wandered for about fifteen minutes, until a large gust of wind blew past her and knocked her to the ground. She looked up in anger, searching for the culprit, when she saw a blue hedgehog, dragging his feet on the ground, stopping a few meters away. Amy stormed over to the hedgehog.

"Um, excuse me? What is your problem!? Why are you running through the airport like a maniac!?" Amy shouted at him in anger. The blue hedgehog just looked at her nonchalantly.

"I had to go to the restroom." He said as if it were obvious.

"And you ran?"

"It was an emergency." He said with a grin.

"You're insane! You knocked me down!"

"Hmmm. Sorry. Can you please stop shouting? You're giving me a headache."

Amy scoffed and looked at him incredulously.

I'M giving HIM a headache? He has SOME nerve. What a jerk!

The blue hedgehog smiled as he watched Amy angrily think of something to say.

"Well if that's all, I have to get back to my gate. See ya, Princess." He said with a wink. As the blue hedgehog started to make his way to the gates, Amy saw that he was about to start running again, and as he took off, she extended her leg out, and it caught the blue hedgehog's foot. He tumbled down with a crash.

He got up and looked around, annoyed.

Amy was gone before he could say anything.

Amy made her way back to the gate and sat down, deciding to keep a low profile in case HE showed up looking for revenge.

Maybe tripping him was a bit much...? I mean he did say sorry. Even if it did seem a bit sarcastic.

No! That jerk deserved it! He was being a reckless idiot!

Still...I don't feel right about it. Maybe I should apologi-

Amy! You're going to be traveling across the globe in a few minutes. Just let him be angry. Who cares? You won't have to see his smug face ever again.

Ugh. Whatever. Fine. I'll still feel a bit guilty though. Just let me have that, second voice.

Fine.

"Now boarding all A seats." A voice over the intercom said. Amy grabbed her backpack and waited in line to board the plane.

Amy took her phone out as she was waiting and texted her mom.

"I'm about to get on the plane, Mom. I'll see you soon :)"

Amy boarded the plane and looked for row 15, seat A. She took her seat by the window. She put her seatbelt on, and began to people-watch as they came aboard. As more and more people were boarding and heading to their assigned seats, Amy noticed a familiar figure getting closer and closer to where she was sitting.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The blue hedgehog was staring above the seats at the row numbers and kept walking until he reached row 15, seat B. He finally looked down to the seats and noticed a pink hedgehog sitting in the window seat. He raised a brow, but ignored her and put his luggage up in the overhead compartment. He then took his seat next to the girl, who was trying her hardest not to be seen. He couldn't help but slightly smirk at the way she had her head turned downward, and how her hand was covering her profile.

"You think he saw you?" He said with a hushed voice. Amy's eyes widened at the familiar voice, and slowly turned to face the blue hedgehog who had a smug smirk on his face. Amy's eyes darted back and forth.

"...What makes you say that?" She said, trying to cover her ever-reddening cheeks.

"It's pretty obvious you're trying to hide from me." He said with a knowing grin.

"Why would I hide from you? I don't even know you!" Amy said with a false ignorance and a cheesey grin. She turned her head from him and stared out the window. As she stared at the runway, she could hear a chuckle from the side of her.

Could've handled that one better, Amy.

She rolled her eyes and continued to stare at nothing in particular outside.

Might as well just ignore him for this whole flight.

Amy tore her gaze from the window, shook her head slightly, and faced forward. She tried to put her arm on the nearby armrest and saw that a certain blue hedgehog had taken it. She pulled her arm back in a flash.

"Do you think you could share the armrest?" Amy asked. The blue hedgehog just glanced at her, then behind her, then back at her.

"You have one by the window. Use that one."

"But I like to rest both my arms." Amy was already growing irritated. Couldn't he just share the damn armrest?

"Well so do I, Princess. You've already got the window seat, not to mention you tripping me. The least you could do is spare me an armrest."

Princess. He's using that stupid name again. I'm glad I didn't apologize.

Told you.

Shut up, second voice.

Amy shoved her elbow onto the armrest, trying to push his arm off, but to no avail. She kept pushing and pushing, and it turned into a weird elbow-wrestling match betwteen the two.

"Is everything alright, here?" The flight attendant asked. The blue hedgehog turned to face her with a grin.

"Yes everything's fine, you know how she is." He said with a light chuckle. He shoved Amy's elbow off the armrest. The flight attendant smiled uncomfortably.

"Yes...well, we're about to take off so just make sure you have your seatbelts fastened."

"Will do, ma'am." The blue hedgehog said happily. The attendant speed-walked away from them.

Amy looked away with a small "hmph." She stared out the window again, having her arms crossed.

About five minutes passed when a small, elderly echidna took her seat next to the blue hedgehog.

"Hello, young man." She said with a smile. The blue hedgehog gave her a genuine smile.

"Hello." He had taken his right arm off the armrest between them. The elderly woman gladly accepted the armrest. Amy looked on with an annoyed look. He gave her a smirk.

"Oh and who is this over here, your girlfriend?" The woman asked happily. Amy's eyes widened. She quickly jumped into the conversation before HE could say anything.

"No, I'm not his girlfriend. But hi, I'm Amy." Amy quickly dismissed, and offered her hand to shake. The woman accepted.

"I'm Hazel, and I'm sorry, it's just that you two look a bit like a couple, considering how angry you look over there." She said bluntly. The blue hedgehog burst out with a laugh. Amy scowled at him for a second, but quickly shook it off and went back to staring out the window.

"And I never got your name, young man." Hazel said. The blue hedgehog took his attention off of the annoyed pink hedgehog to his left, and turned to Hazel.

"My name's Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog." He said proudly. Hazel smiled and shook his hand.

"You know... I would trade seats with you, considering how irked Amy seems with you over there... but I probably will be getting up often, and I wouldn't want to walk past you over and over." Hazel said in a hushed tone. Sonic smiled at her.

"Ah, that's okay. Besides, she's fun to mess with." Sonic said in an equally quiet voice. Hazel just smiled and shook her head at him.

It had been about twenty minutes since the plane took off and Amy hadn't taken her eyes off of the window. She put her headphones in the second the flight attendant said it was alright to use electronics. She was blaring her music, refusing to make any sort of conversation with HIM.

I probably seem like some angry whackjob. I wish I didn't have to be so anti-social to them...Hazel seems nice.

Well it's his fault.

Maybe you're right...but I still feel BAD though...maybe I should try to apologize now.

NO! Are you crazy? He started it!

Well it's not like he's making an effort to apologize. And we've still got nine hours and forty minutes on this stupid plane, so might as well try to be friendly.

Fine. Whatever. But if things get worse, I won't say I told you so.

Amy took her headphones out and looked over at Sonic who was talking with Hazel.

Probably telling her how terrible you are.

Shut up, second voice.

"...Hey." She said in a small voice. He looked over at her. She looked into his lime eyes for a split second before she lost her thoughts. She shrank before him.

Well? Aren't you going to apologize?

I was going to...but...

But what?

I don't know. I just can't. It's intimidating.

"Amy...?" Sonic said. Amy looked back at him. He actually called her by her name. She quickly looked back down to her lap.

"Oh...um...I just..."

Deep breath.

"Sorry...f-for tripping you. Oh, and about the armrest...too..." She said with a slight blush. She turned away and immediately put her headphones back in, and went back to staring out the window.

Smooth Amy.

I know that could've gone better...but hey at least I said it.

Well now you get to really ignore him for the rest of the flight.

Yeah I gue-

There was a tap on Amy's shoulder. Sonic gestured to the armrest. He shifted his elbow over to make room.

Don't accept it. Just ignore him.

But...

Amy don't. You know what's going to happen.

Yeah but...

Amy. I'm warning you.

Amy placed her arm on the armrest hesitantly. Sonic gave her a small smile in return. Another blush crept onto her cheeks.

This is going to be a long flight.

Shut up, second voice.

So I'll guess I'll stop there for now. There will probably be another chapter. I enjoyed writing this. Hopefully you enjoyed reading it. If not...that's cool too. I mean I did write this at 2 in the morning :3

Please review, I enjoy reading all types of comments :)

Till next time!
