Happy

He had certainly not expected that spark that had passed between them when they had first lain eyes on each other. He had been concentrating on Harry like the rest of the family had been doing when his attention had been caught by the small movement as his years of curse-breaking had drilled into him.

The beautiful blonde champion of Beauxbatons had been chatting idly to her parents in French but had glanced around the room and caught his gaze for those precious few seconds that it had taken for him to fall in love with the French woman he had never even properly met.

He had never believed in love at first sight before but he would have to admit that he had been proven wrong. He never mentioned that to Fleur though, she always enjoyed teasing him whenever he mentioned such assumptions, even in passing. He blamed that on Charlie and the rate at which his brother had dated and dumped girls while they had been in Hogwarts.

He knew that her stay at the Burrow had not been as pleasant as it could have been especially with his family and Fleur not really seeing eye to eye. He had been so giddy on the thought that he would be marrying the girl of his dreams that he had not paused to think of the way his family would treat Fleur, especially as she was considered an 'outsider' by them. Despite how hard Fleur had tried to hide it, he knew that the entire stay was pretty much a failure because his family had not been willing to try but you couldn't have everything.

He was not entirely sure what had caused the change in attitude after the Battle of the Astronomy Tower but he noticed the consequences. Fleur had become a part of their family after that, something that had made his incredibly happy. The wedding could finally be planned with the happy consent of his parents; that had been a success to him. Fleur's parents had accepted him a lot quicker than his parents had accepted her.

"What are you thinking about?" Fleur asked him, her eyes flickering open against the playful light that sometimes danced its way past the overhead canopy of leaves.

It was one of those days that was so warm you could not possibly do anything but relax and that was what they were doing, relaxing under one of the larger trees at the bottom of their garden. There was a bigger tree a little further on but this one had a pond nearby that made the entire surrounding area seem a lot calmer. His back was leaning against the trunk of the tree while Fleur had her head on his lap as he ran his fingers through her hair, watching as the light sometimes filtered down and made her hair turn a colour that was close to pure white..

"Nothing important," he replied waving his thoughts off carelessly as he seemed to be doing too often these days.

Fleur laughed, "You're reminiscing again aren't you?"

Fleur knew him far too well. He could almost swear she could read his mind at times, which he found both uncanny and cute at the same time.

"Obviously I'm not entertaining you enough," she said as she sat up slowly.

Before he had time to argue about Fleur always having his undivided attention her soft lips descended upon his. The kiss was chaste and soft because anyone could pass at any given moment in time but it also conveyed all her love for him. He returned the kiss similarly, showing her how much he too loved her. He was nothing less than happy as he held her tightly, not willing to let go.

If this was the only thing he ever received, he was happy.
