Megan walked into the room, her eyes sparkling as Dan's smile lit up as he saw her. Dan sat at the table on a chair in the kitchen. It was dark outside, sometime close to midnight. She scratched her head, as she was a bit self-consious at the moment. Dan got up and walked over to her, wrapping his arms around her.
"You look gorgeous, darling." he whispered.
Megan closed her eyes and returned the hug. Dan smelt of sweet cinnamon and vanilla. Megan's eyes were watering as she felt the perfectness of the moment. Dan pulled away and caressed her face as he looked down at the dress that he had wanted her to wear.
It was a strapless white dress that went down to her knees, and it had sparkly silver details all over the skirt of the dress.
"Why did you want me to wear this, Daniel?" Megan asked quietly.
Dan looked away from her, a flicker of saddness going through his face.
"What's a matter, Daniel?" Megan asked, now worried, holding his face in her hands.
He put his hands overtop of hers. They were ice compared to hers. It was the middle of December, after all, but they had both been warm always. Except for now. Dan looked right into Megan's eyes. He closed his eyes and put his soft lips against Megan's.
Dan pulled away, his eyes shiny with tears. He held her face, rubbing her right cheek with his thumb.
"Megan, your so perfect. And I just want you to know that I.." he looked away, watching as a wave of perfectly white snow fell from the dark sky. He looked back at her, right in her eyes.
"I love you, Megan." Dan said.
Just then, all the light flickered off and a howling wind blew. It screams through all the cracks in the house, causing a chill to run through the house.
Megan grasped Dan's shirt with her fist and buried her face in his chest. He put his arms around her, pulling her close to him. He gently pushed his face into hers and they shared a kiss. Although Megan could not see him, she could taste the salty tears on his lips.
"W-why are you crying, Daniel?" She asked.
"Because of you, m'dear. Your so unbelieveably perfect, Megan. And I just want you to know that I have loved you since the moment we met and.." he paused, pulling his shirt out of her grip as he went down.
Megan couldn't see him but she could almost guess what he was doing. Tears ran down her cheeks. Tears of joy.
"And Megan, I couldn't imagine being without you. I want to be with you always. I want to love you forever until we're old and gray." he said, quietly.
The lights flickered on and off, long enough for Megan to see Dan's teary eyes and sweet face, and for Dan to see hers.
"So.. What d'ya say, Megan? ...Will you marry me?" Dan asked.
Megan heard a little case open, and saw a little sparkle in the low moonlight and could only guess what it was. The salty tears came faster, as she was so happy.
"Y.. Yes, Daniel. I will." She whispered, barely able to speak.
Megan felt a small silver ring slip over her ring finger and she sniffed. She felt Dan get up. He picked her up and spun her around, as they both laughed. The both collapsed to the ground, giggling. They sat together, entwined and kissing.
As the kissing ceased they sat together, holding eachother, the only sound being their breathing.
"I love you, Megan." Dan whispered.
"I love you, too, Daniel." Megan whispered as he leaned in and kissed him on the lips.
