Description: Harry is looking for answers, but he finds something he never expected. Snape's past. Why does Dumbledore trust him? M- for a reason SSOC later on
Chapter 1: Why?
Breathing heavily, Harry ran through the halls of his once beloved school of Hogwarts. Ever since that dark night 3 months ago, he could never look at the forlorn castle in the same way. He, the traitor, had taken that from him, and had also taken one of his last mentors.
The only reason Harry chose to return to this wretched place was to speak to Dumbledore's painting, and just maybe have some clue how to go on to defeat Voldemort. "If that's even possible", he sighed to himself, "Without Dumbledore, what chance do I have?"
Finally arriving at the entrance to the Headmaster's office, Harry put his hands on his knees and tried to catch his breath. Hoping the password was still one of Dumbledore's favorite candies, Harry said, "Lemon drops." Thankfully, the door gave way to the staircase. Harry shook as he walked up those stairs. His memories brought back all the times he had climbed them before looking for guidance, answers, and understanding. As he opened the door, Harry heard the voice he thought was lost.
"Ah Harry, I've been waiting to speak with you. Come in and sit, we have much to talk about….." Dumbledore said.
As he walked in, all thoughts of Horcruxes and Voldemort escaped him. Now, all he wanted was revenge. Harry could not hold it back, with as much venom and hate he could muster he screamed, "HOW COULD YOU TRUST THAT BASTARD!!! WHAT DID HE DO TO CONVINCE YOU….WHY….HOW…..HOW COULD HE DO THIS TO YOU?"
"Harry sit and listen to me." Dumbledore softly replied from his portrait prison. Harry sat even though he was still shaking from his anger. "Now, I chose this and I would have done the same if I had the choice again. It's more complex than you think."
"NO IT'S NOT! HE KILLED YOU! THAT'S NOT COMPLEX AT ALL!", Harry interrupted.
"I guess to convince you, you'll have to see everything. I had Severus give me these memories in a secret pensieve behind that portrait of the Four Founders of Hogwarts. Take it Harry, you will understand soon. Don't let vengeance fill your heart, I did this willfully"
Harry took out the pensieve, his hands still quivering. He took one last mournful look at his mentor before plunging into the cold, silver water. Harry had no idea how Dumbledore could willfully die at the hands of Snape.
Author's Note: Just the beginning. I've been thinking this up for awhile and it goes way out there. In Next chapters, Characters' thought's will be displayed through italics. Hope you enjoy it.
