Izuku had failed. Who was he kidding? In order to fail, you had to have a chance in the first place. He couldn't even save the girl from the robot. Thankfully, the robots was designed with a system to prevent permanent harm. The failure still affected him. Without waiting, he ran home, never noticing a notebook falling out of his backpack. Nor did he notice a tired-looking man with a scarf picking it up.

Kacchan was right. Why did he bother? Even All Might agreed that a quirk is needed. He did nothing as he waited for the pointless envelope. He already knew he failed. No bots were destroyed. The letter would probably tell him how idiotic it was to even try. Still, he waited for the envelope, part of him hoping there was a loophole he accidentally fulfilled. "It's here!" His mother called as she gave him the envelope. With a sigh, he opened the envelope and found a small disc. He was amazed when it turned out to be a projector and All Might appeared. Turns out there was a second part he didn't know about, Rescue Point. However, while he did get some, it wasn't nearly close to the requirement. He listened to the rest of the video for some unknown reason.
"I'm sorry, but you failed. You won't be able to join the Hero course," he paused for a bit. "However, we found something of yours." In his hands was a familiar notebook. Izuku ran to his backpack and, sure enough, the notebook in question was missing. "One of the teacher found this and decided to look at it" Izuku heard someone say something offscreen, but couldn't make it out. Thankfully, All Might repeated it. "Huh, wrap it up? Several more shoot need to be done today? Fine." He turned back to the camera in front of him. "Young Midoriya, the principal of U.A. would like to speak to you about your notebook. Please arrive as soon as you're able". And with that, the projection shut itself off. He walked out of his room and told his mother the bad news. Before she could hug him in sadness, he added that the principal wanted to see him and he needed to get there quickly.
"I can drive you," offered Inko, Izuku's mother, but he declined. As he jogged to U.A., thoughts of what the principal wanted him filled his mind. Did he accidentally put secret information in his notebook? Or maybe they just wanted to return it? He was distracted by thoughts, so he almost ran into a man who look like he haven't gotten a good night sleep in a while.
"Midoriya, Izuku?" asked the man, whose voice held the same tiredness as his body.
"Yes?" replied the young male. He didn't know the staff of U.A., so he didn't know if this was a teacher.
"Follow me," he said before walking off. "The principal is waiting". Izuku ran forward to catch up to the U.A. staff member. He heard the man mumble something that sounded like, "It's too late for this. Why couldn't he get someone else to do it?"
"Sorry for making you stay up late," said Izuku, feeling guilty. He know that the message said as soon as possible, but he should have thought about the time.
"It's fine," the man said with a sigh. "At least you follow instructions better than my last class"
"So could I ask which class you teach?" asked a curious Izuku. He was surprised when the man replied with an actual answer.
"1-A, heroics". Izuku was about to ask about Kacchan, but his guide stop by a door and told him to go through. Inside the room was an large animal, though Izuku couldn't tell which species, wearing a suit. He was surprised when the animal spoke.
"I know what you're thinking," he said with a smile. "and I am not a dog, mouse or bear"
"What do you want to talk about?" asked Izuku. Though he had other questions on his mind, he thought he should focus on the matter at hand.
"Yes," he said as he handed Iuzku his notebook. "You have a brilliant mind, young boy"
"Thanks," replied Izuku as he took the notebook from the principal.
"I was wondering if you could do something for me," the principal said as he placed three pieces of paper on the desk. "First, write an entry about me, like you did for the people in your notebook. I'm Nezu and my quirk is High Specs. it give me superior intelligence. On a scale of 1-5, I was rated a six. Second, I gave you a situation and want you to tell what you would do. Finally, I want you to write down an idea for a support item that would help me". and with that, he left Izuku alone to do the work. While he thought this was weird, he started writing on the papers he was given. He was so focus on the assignment that he didn't hear Nezu return. "Are you done?" Izuku sat up in surprise and, as he sheepishly grinned, handed the paper to the principal. Izuku felt his nervousness rising with each second as Nezu silently read his papers. "Why do you want to be a hero?"
"What?" the question came out of nowhere, so Izuku wasn't sure he heard correctly. Nezu simply repeated the question and waited for Izuku's answer. "I want to help people". Nezu looked at the young boy and, to his slight surprise, he saw no sign of dishonesty.
"So you don't want money or fame?" asked the principal as he placed the papers on the table.
"I don't care about money," admitted Izuku, "and I'm not very good with people, so fame never crossed my mind".
"And, other than the notebooks," he said gesturing to the notebook, "What else have you done to prepare for a hero career?"
"Nothing," mumbled an embarrassed Izuku. Nezu, with his sharp hearing, heard it though.
"Oh," said Nezu, a slight frown on his face. "Why?"
"When I was younger, I was waiting for my quirk to appear," he was about to continue when Nezu interrupted him.
"Why did you wait?" asked Nezu. "Why not train while you waited?"
"I didn't really have a reason," he said as painful memories filled his mind. "It was an unspoken truth that you need a quirk to be a hero"
"Is it?" was the simple question from the principal.
"Everyone says so," he said, looking at the ground.
"Do you believe that?"
"Not at first," Izuku answered, "but after talking to a person I looked up to for my whole life and the entry exam, I accept that it's true"
"Have you ever read the old comics?" asked Nezu. "The ones before quirks were discovered?"
"No," said Izuku. "Most of them are lost to time and those that are available are too expensive"
"Well," Nezu said as he showed Izuku a comic. "This one is about a hero, or rather vigilante, named Batman. The most interesting part is that he didn't have any powers". Izuku's interest was clear on his face. "Yes, he was quirkless, but he was able to take on villains with his intelligence, fighting skills, and gadgets"
"You think that I could?" asked Izuku, afraid to finish the statement. His mood fell when Nezu shook his head.
"You can't be Batman," he said before smiling. "Vigilante are criminals after all"
"You mean," Izuku's smile only grew as the principal nodded his head.
"But," Nezu's stern voice drew his attention, "I can't let you join the heroics course"
"Why?" asked a curious Izuku.
"You're too weak," said Nezu bluntly. "You're very intelligent, but, even with that, your body can't handle a hero career"
"Then," he said, mood slightly down, "what do you want me to do?"
"Do you know what the support class does?" asked Nezu. To nobody's surprise, Izuku gave a great answer. "Correct, while not in the spotlight, the people who make the costumes of heroes are very important"
"Do you want me to join the support class?" asked Izuku. "I don't know how to though"
"I'm give you a test," Nezu said as he handed Izuku the paper with the support item. "With Power Loader's supervision, you'll have a day to make this"
"A day?" asked a surprised Izuku.
"As a support provider, you will have deadlines," Nezu explained. "Some will be extremely short".
"When do I begin?" said a serious Izuku.

Power Loader smiled as he watched the young boy work. Izuku was something special, he could easily tell that. He made several mistakes, but never the same one twice. His determination was something to be admired. Looking at the clock, he saw that it was almost time for the test to end. "Higari," Izuku's voice drew his attention away from the clock. "I'm finish". He was holding a pair of goggles in his hand. While it appeared slightly crude, it wasn't bad for a first time. The important question was 'does it work?'. when asked, Izuku placed the goggle on his head. "Slightly uncomfortable, but time to test it". Going through the tests, he confirmed that each setting worked as functioned.
"May I asked why you chose multi-vision goggles for the principal?" asked Higari.
"Well," Izuku said as he removed the goggles, "I thought that if he was able to gather more information, he could use his quirk better". Izuku closed his eyes as he thought, "I mean if there was a villain in a building, these goggles could help figure out where they are and what they are doing".
"I see," Higari said before he started leading Izuku to Nezu's office. On the way, he told Izuku the mistakes he noticed with the boy's design.
"Did you finish?" asked Nezu as he glanced at Izuku and Higari. "Oh, it seem you did". Izuku was too nervous to say anything, so he simply gave the principal the goggles.
"Multi-vision goggles," said Higari. "He made them with a zoom mode, infrared mode, night vision mode, and a safe x-ray mode"
"I didn't have time to add the final mode," said Izuku as he found his voice again. "I wanted a mode that connect to a database. This will tell you who you facing and what they can do". Nezu hmm'd as he placed the goggles over his eyes. He could already see one problem, but he wrote it off as inexperience. He smiled as each mode functioned as they should. There were several issue that need to be fixed before it was acceptable, but for the time limit and the lack of experience, the boy did a good job.
"Higari," said Nezu, his voice not revealing anything. "Are you fine with another student joining your class?"
