This is something I wrote in less than twelve minutes. Enjoy.
Mal Fallon never thought he would see the day when he walked his baby girl down the aisle. And he certainly never expected to give her away to Kai's son.
He held onto her slender hand as he walked her down the brick aisle. She insisted upon a simple outdoor wedding and had invited only family and a few select friends.
She was never one for tradition. Rather than a long flowing veil and white dress, she allowed her long dark hair to flow freely, a sharp contrast against the soft blue silk of her long dress.
Her soon to be husband stood under the makeshift altar, if an oak tree trimmed with crimson leaves could be called an altar.
At least it wasn't an expensive wedding for such a young couple.
"Daddy, you can let go," Lilly laughed. Her curulean eyes twinkled, mirrors of his own.
"Oh, yeah... okay." Mal released her hand.
"Do you, Mal Fallon, give away Lilly Fallon to marry Timmy Kalaba?" The aforementioned smiled at each other happily.
It took Mal a long moment to respond. "I... do."
"And do you, Timmy Kalaba, promise to... damn it... oh yeah. Do you promise to take Lilly Fallon as your wife in sickness and in health, until death do you part?"
"I do."
"And do you, Lil-"
"Shut up already! I do!"
Mal bit back a snicker at his only daughter's impatience. It seemed like only yesterday little Lilly Angela Fallon had started kindergarten.
He stopped to correct that thought. It was two days ago. The delighted five year old jumped into his arms. "Daddy! Thanks for playing wedding with me!"
He ruffled her soft brown hair. "No problem, squirt." She gave him a peck on the cheek before he set her down.
Lilly gave their "priest" a sharp look. "Aiden, you messed the wedding words up and said damn it!"
A iden Redbird scowled, his dirty blonde hair dangling over his eyes. "I don't like weddings! And Mommy says damn it a lot."
"My daddy says damn it a lot too. Mommy says it's not a nice word." Lilly sent an accusing glare toward her father.
"My daddy says damn it when he sucks at video games!" Timmy enthused.
"Damn it is-" Lilly began.
"That's enough," Natara interjected.
"Blame Daddy," Lilly pouted. Mal childishly stuck his tongue out at her. She giggled in response before running off to play with her friends.
Kai slung an arm around Mal's shoulders. "Maybe we'll really be in-laws in twenty years!"
His words proved to be untrue.
It was only eighteen years later.
