Will hesitated before he came into the Enterprise's sickbay. He found Dr. Crusher at her desk and smiled.
"Doctor," he said.
"Will," she said, putting down her PADD. "Congratulations on your engagement! What can I do for you?"
"I'd like your help with a very… personal matter," Will said. "It's… sort of a wedding present for Deanna."
"Well, there's no need to be so cryptic, Will," Beverly said. "What is it?"
Will leaned closer to her desk. "I want you to help me… bless our marriage."
Beverly did a little gasp. Then she smiled. She remembered reading in Will's file that he had had a vasectomy while at the Academy, but it had never come up until now.
"That's wonderful, Will!" Beverly exclaimed. "Have you discussed this with Deanna?"
"Of course. We figure this might be our last chance, so…"
"Well, if you're sure," Beverly said, "I can pencil you in for tomorrow afternoon."
"Great," said Will. "I'll see you then."
The next day, Will came down to sickbay again. Beverly had him take off his pants and lie on an operating table. When he was ready, she came into the room and gave him a local anesthetic. Will closed his eyes and listened to jazz in his earbuds to distract himself, and after that he took a nap. Finally, it was done.
When Will opened his eyes, he saw Deanna Troi standing above him, stroking his hair. He smiled at her groggily.
"How do you feel?" Deanna asked.
"Fully functional," Will said.
"Glad to hear it," Deanna said.
When Beverly gave him permission, Will got up and re-dressed himself. Beverly and Deanna waited for Will to come out of the operating room and into Beverly's office. When Will came in, Beverly got up and gave him a pat on the shoulder.
"Now be fruitful and multiply," she said. She looked from Will to Deanna and smiled. "I'm sure you two will be wonderful parents."
Deanna kissed her fiancé. "Thank you, Will," she said. "This is the best wedding present ever."
"Don't thank me," said Will. "Thank Beverly."
"Thank you, Beverly," Deanna said.
"You're very welcome," Beverly said.
"Now I can't wait to see what you got me," Will said to Deanna as they turned to leave.
"Well, you'll have to wait a little longer," Deanna said. "I'm saving it for the wedding night."
