Title: Later, or: When it's a Quiet Day no Longer
Pairing: Tezuka/Fuji
Rating:
PG
A/n: A follow-up to 'Quiet Days', written EXACTLY 365 days latter for the captain we (specifically Fuji) all know and love. Happy Birthday, Tezuka Kunimitsu!

Tezuka shot a wary glance at Fuji. He was curled up against the couch with his hands innocently tucked under his head, the slow rise and fall of his chest almost rhythmic. His toes were poking out from under the blanket, and it was, Tezuka admitted, a nice finishing touch to his rather convincing attempt at faking sleep. He squinted and - upon seeing the almost unnoticeable quirk of Fuji's lips - amended that it would take more than a little misleading vulnerability to fool him.

"Fuji," Tezuka said, the warning clear in his voice, although he couldn't help wanting to reach over and muss up the sun-kissed brown strands. "You aren't fooling anyone."

Fuji rolled over a bit and let his bangs fall across his face. No doubt a ploy to hide his smile, Tezuka thought suspiciously. He set his glasses on the coffee table and leaned closer, feeling uncharacteristically bold all of a sudden. Strands of thin eyelashes rested on Fuji's pale cheek, just begging to be kissed, and he felt a warm feeling settle all over.

"Tezuka," Fuji breathed, eyes sleepily opened, and reached over to grasp the warm hand stroking his hair. He smirked. "How was your book?"

"Fascinating," Tezuka deadpanned. "How was your nap?"

Fuji smirked. "Never could get anything past you, can I?"

In lieu of a reply, Tezuka lowered his head and smoothed a finger over Fuji's sharp collarbone. He felt a slight shiver beneath his touch, and suddenly wondered if anyone else had been allowed to touch the same expanse of pale skin as he did. It was an unpleasant thought, and he told himself now wasn't the time to wonder.

"It was a good effort, though," Fuji encouraged, a slow smile spreading on his face.

Tezuka looked up and raised an eyebrow. "That it was," He conceded, trying not to smirk as he added, "And good efforts must be rewarded."
