America and Italy watched as the elevator carrying Wang Yao rose up to the top floor, forcing the other two to climb the tall tower.
"I can't believe he did that!" America yelled out in frustration, as Italy nodded his head in agreement.
"He's much stronger than us, if he was here, he could've fought for us!" Italy commented, as America led him to the stairs.
After the small talk about being forced to climb the Saia Tower, an uncomfortable silence was in the atmosphere. These two didn't need a book to read the atmosphere anymore, since they knew way too much about their current situation.
Ah, yes, their situation. Being transported into another world to find out that your alternate self in the work is dead is quite strange. What's even stranger is when you have no idea how to get out of the world, or if you even know if you can.
"So… Italy… What do you think we did to get in this problem?" America asked nonchalantly as he walked next to Italy.
Italy frowned as he played with his weapon, a German flag. "I don't know-! All we did was do what everyone else wanted us to do! Ve…" The Italian felt a bit depressed, since he basically ruined someone's life while in this world.
I hope I can find Feliciano… He sounded so sad when he disappeared…. The Italian man thinks, as he watches America, who was also deep in thought.
Feeling Italy looking at him, he snaps out of his thoughts and smiles.
"It's alright, dude! We were probably meant to do this, right? And Dalia needed our help too! We can be heroes in this world, and save the world!"
Italy laughs a little, happy that his friend was seeing the bright side of the situation.
"Yeah, I guess that's true. And being in this world is kind of fun, isn't it?"
Climbing up the long stairs, America nodded in agreement. Italy followed quickly behind him, a small smile on his own face.
The conversation stopped for a few moments, as the two had to team up to fight another one of those monsters in this world.
Eating some of the fruits that Antonio had left for them, they continued their conversation.
"Even if there might be monsters here, I guess it just makes it funner, right?" America says, munching on an apple.
"I suppose so…" Italy says, eating a peach.
Another silence fills the temple. The atmosphere was thick.
"You want to go to home too, don't you?" The two nations say in unison, only to stare at each other in disbelief.
"I thought you liked it here, America!?" Italy asked, clearly confused.
"I could say the same thing to you!" America responded back to him. "And so what if I miss everyone else at home…" America mutters under his breath, a bit embarrassed at that confession.
"It's okay, America, I miss home too! But right now, we have to think of this world right now." Italy comforts America, with a sad smile on his face.
America returned the sad smile, and then quickly returned to his earlier chipper mood.
"Enough of this mushy stuff already! Yao is gonna get tired while we're standing here talking about our feelings!"
And even before Italy could respond, the two ran to the stairs, and laughed the entire way up.
They were finally reunited, after so long, so they might as well cherish it before they separate.
