Hello again, I haven't really writhen a story in a while, kinda lost the muse. Looking back at my old stories I am beyond embarrassed with the writing, not my best work. But any who, this idea came to me in a dream so why not write it, right?

KONO

"I can't believe you!" Detective Danny Williams shouted at his longtime partner.

Here we go again, Kono thought to herself. Danny and Steve had been going at each other for the past week.

"What now Danny?" Steve said leaning heavily on the smart table.

Steve looked ready to drop, dark under eye circles covered his eyes, his skin pail and clammy. The whole team has been on edge for the past week, their current case had them all thrown for a loop. The team had been called to a crime scene last Friday; a member of Steve's old SEAL team had been killed. Steve has taken it pretty hard, Kono could only guess that they were pretty close but Steve being Steve wouldn't talk. The worst part was the letter left for Steve on the victim's stomach.

So sorry to see that one of your SEAL buddies have been killed Commander, I bet you must feel terrible considering this is your fault. I bet your wondering how? Well, you'll find out soon.

Ever since Steve read the letter he'd been quite and even crazier than before.

"What now you ask! Well I'll tell you what! This morning, remember that. Almost getting us killed because you thought we had been followed? Huh? Remind you of anything? There's a scratch on my car!" Danny said with his chest heaving.

Steve just closed his eyes and took a shaky breath. "I thought they were chasing us, I'm sorry."

"You're sorry? That's it? All I get for almost being killed!"

Steve turned to face Danny. "If you're finding this job too dangerous then just quit."

Steve turned around and walked into his office, leaving Danny standing with his mouth open.

Kono did not see that coming.

"Danny? He didn't mean it. He's just under a lot of stress and he—"She was cut off by Danny.

"No maybe he's right." It was Kono's turn to be left standing there with her mouth wide open.

Danny turned around and walked out the HQ entrance without a single goodbye.

"Howzit cuz, anything new?" Chin asked as he walked into HQ.

"Um, I think Danny just quit." Kono said.

"I'm sorry? Did you just say Danny quit?" Chin asked

"Yeah, Steve and Danny were arguing again and Steve told him he should leave, so he did." Kono said lost in her thoughts.

STEVE

After the blow up with Danny, Steve went into his office. He could feel his hands shaking and his head pounded with the beat of his heart.

After John was killed and Steve read the note he couldn't stop shaking. They had nothing new on this guy or girl since the note, not even a suspect. With the Governor breathing down his neck every second of everyday Steve didn't think he could take anyone. Steve sat in his office with his head in his hands for an hour, then his phone off. At first he just wanted to let it ring and act as if he was busy, then when he looked at the number. Duke for HPD was calling; maybe they found a suspect Steve thought or another body. He picks up the phone with his usual 'McGarrett'.

"Hi Steve" He said, he sounded sad.

"Hi Duke, what have you got?" Steve asked.

"Um, look there isn't any easy way to say this but, Mary was found dead in a hotel this morning around 8:20. I'm so sorry Steve."

Steve felt like he'd been punched in the gut.

"Okay thanks Duke." Steve said as he hung up the phone.

Then he threw the phone at the wall.
