Like Every Night
Author Note: I had a request to make a Marvelous/Luka one-shot. This is why this is born

"Five..." the keen and clever lookout counted the shooting stars like every night, "six..."
"What are you counting?" the Captain's voice all but scared her out of her skin.
"Shooting stars, like every night," she quickly recovered and put her eyes back on the shining stars, "Seven..."
"Why?" he inquired curiously. Of course he'd go meddling about her buinuess.
"None of your buincess," she told him the same line she did to anyone, (except Doc, that once,) like every night.
"Captain's orders," oh, how she hated it when he pulled rank on her.
Luka's P. O. V. (Wish me luck!)
He strode over in that cocky way of his, wearing that stupid smirk. Was there a day in his life he didn't smrik about something? He was so cocky and full of himself...ugh. How annoying that would have to be. I'm nothing like that, so ha.
"It helps me see stuff in battle easier," I replied, not taking my eyes from the cascade of stars scattered all over the blanket of night, "what's it to you?" (Wow, those were big words...)
"Hmph," he nodded, leaning against the rim himself, "I think I'll give it a whirl."
I groaned loudly and sagged a little. He was so curious about everything...it sickened me. It meant you can't have just something you did. He always had to be a part of it.
"One..." he mumured, his eyes fixed on the sky, totally ignoring me.
Like every night, I ignored his counting and went about my own, "Eight..."
Marvelous' P. O. V
Seeing shooting stars was a breeze. I found them all when she was on nine, which was a lot faster than her. But I didn't say anything. I finished because I was more intersted in the star in front of me. Our tomboyish lookout sure looked beautiful in the moonlight...
"What are you staring at?" good grief, she had a hard elbow!
I held my stomach and glared at her, "I was counting five, and your head was in the way."
She just huffed and stormed away. Hmph, well talk about a fight then flight.
Girls are so weird.
Nobody's P. O. V.
Gokai Yellow tossed and turned that night. For some reason, watching the stars didn't help her unwind like it usaully did.
"Of course," she mumbled, "he messed me up by coming." She rose and went back out to the count again, like every night when it didn't work the first time.
Marvelous' P. O. V.
Luka looked so pale and tired in the morning...it bothered me.
"I didn't...mess you up, did I?" I was afraid of her nodding...which she did.
"Thanks a lot," she grumbled, "UNlike every night, I'm not counting on the crows nest. I don't need YOU messing me up."
Now that just hurt.
Luka's P. O. V.
I was counting in my own quaters through the port window...but it felt wrong. I missed the night air, the smell of the ocean and city...and yes, I missed Marvelous. I felt bad...the hardcore DO understand, thank you.
"Of course you'd count here," his voice purred in her ear, and I turned around, surprised.
"Marvelous, I'm sor-" and then his lips were on mine.
They were soft, and they fit into mine. I felt the sparks raining down my spine as he pulled me to his body, us sinking to the ground and cuddling a little. It was just so right, kissing underneath the sky.
Really? my eyes questioned, and his answered, No duh.
Mine rolled in response, which made him chuckle under my lips.
Marvelous' P. O. V.
Of course Gai would be the one to catch us. His teasing converted from me liking Ahim to me liking Luka...I'm goin kill him.
But at least one good thing came out of it.
Like every night, she goes outside.
Like every night, she counts the stars.
But now every night...
We do it together.
