Prologue
"HA! In your face!" Cameron Mitchell bellowed triumphantly, holding a now-broken necklace in his hand.
"All right, so now we can kill her," Daniel Jackson commented, rolling out of the way of a chunk of the wall. "Fat load of good that does us."
"Actually, I think it's made her realize we are a threat," Samantha Carter pointed out, shooting at their enemy with a zat. "It makes her a bit worried."
"And angry," Teal'c observed, ducking from a swarm of shattered glass zipping towards him.
"And that means—I got her!" Vala Mal Doran exclaimed, sounding surprised.
"Okay, hurry, let's get to the cave," Cam ordered. The team rushed to the unconscious woman, picked her up, and ran to the Stargate. After Daniel punched in the 'gate address, they scurried through. They ran all the way to the cave that they had so long ago searched for the sangraal in and set the woman down, sitting down on the ground to catch their breaths.
"I'm so glad those tests are gone," Cam gasped.
"I'm just glad that the defenses in the cave are still up," Daniel replied. "'Else we'd have no where safe to put her." He jerked his head at the still unconscious woman.
"You talk about her like she's just a thing," Vala said unhappily. "Like she's just a package or an animal we have to house-train."
"You know, Vala," Sam coughed, smiling. "That's a pretty accurate analogy."
"She's kind of a…cheetah we have to house-train, though," Cam added.
"I believe there is a domestic cheetah, or some related large cat, in Hitari, Colonel Mitchell," Teal'c informed him.
"Isn't that a John Wayne movie?"
"Indeed."
"'That'll be the day,'" Cam quoted proudly. Teal'c raised an eyebrow.
"What?!"
"It
won't work," Daniel interrupted.
"What won't?" Cam asked. Daniel shot a meaningful glance at the body in the cave opening.
"'Converting her', as you put it."
"Why not? Why can't you give it a chance?" Sam asked.
"I am giving it a chance!" Daniel argued. "I wouldn't be here if I wasn't!"
"I actually have to agree with Danny-boy," Vala put in. "I mean, she's my daughter and I still don't understand how we're going to turn Adria away from the Ori."
