Losing Grip
I hate rap music. The boom in my ears made me feel sick to my stomach. I felt like I would die. I ran for the bathroom, afraid that I would throw up. I went in and splashed my face with water. It helped a little but I still felt horrible. I went back out and got my drink from the table. I went into the poolroom and sat there for what seemed like forever until I heard the relieving ring of a rock song booming from the speakers.
"Take a photograph it'll be the last not a dollar or a crowd could ever keep me here. I don't have a past I just have a chance not a family of honest plea remains to say,
Rain, rain go away come again another day. All the world is waiting for the sun."
I slowly got up and stumbled out onto the skate floor. I was about half way there and that's when I saw him. He was the love of my life, my best friend. Once I got to him he stopped me and made me follow him back to the table. For some reason something felt awkward to me, but I followed him anyway. We sat down in silence for awhile listening to the comforting hum of the music in the background. I was the first to speak.
"Is something wrong?" I questioned him with a look of desperation in my eyes.
"No" He mumbled. I didn't believe him one bit.
"Seriously, is something wrong?" I asked again this time looking strait at him. I could see him looking at the pain in my eyes. He looked guilty. I didn't know what to expect.
"You wouldn't want to know."
"Yes, I do please tell me" I whispered.
"I'm… I'm… I'm breaking up with you. There was a miserable look in his eye. Something was not right. He looked like he didn't want to be doing this.
"Why?" I asked. He just shook his head.
"It's… It's over. He slowly got up, took one last look at me, and walked back to the skate floor.
"Rain, rain go away come again another day. All the world is waiting for the sun. Rain, rain go away come again another day. All the world is waiting for the sun. Rain, rain go away come again another day. All the world is waiting for the sun."
I put my head in my hands and started crying. Just then someone tapped me on my shoulder. I looked up. It was Robert.
"I know him he's my best friend he tells me everything and I know he didn't want to break up with you."
"Then why did he?"
"I don't know."
"Please, tell me." I begged.
"I'm sorry, but I really don't know why."
I went home feeling as cold as a marble tabletop. It was over. Just like that. I never heard from him ever again.
"Rain, rain go away come again another day. All the world is waiting for the sun."
