Beauty and the Beast
A SasuSaku One-shot
Dust was summoned as the medic ninja skidded to a short stop. Her head was bent over, her cherry petal hair falling in front of her face and covering her emerald eyes. For a moment, she couldn't bring herself to look up at her opponent. But she had to look; she had to aim for him.
Her opponent was Uchiha Sasuke, former teammate and her first and only love. She had been left to challenge Sasuke when Naruto had set out yet again with Jiraiya to discover more about the Atasuki. When word about the snake's apprentice reached Konohagure, she had been sent to track him down. She was Haruno Sakura, apprentice to the Fifth Hokage.
Sasuke watched as the girl who was once his ally raise her head to meet his gaze. The last attack she had made almost forced him to activate his Sharingan, for he hadn't seen it coming. As rumor had it, Sakura had gotten stronger. Though he couldn't believe it was for him she had gotten stronger, he would now consider her a worthy opponent. He didn't want to injure her, but she wouldn't stop coming.
Sakura took a minute to study the well-bred apprentice of the conniving snake. Everything about his features was princely, though she had to admit he would look even better atop a white stallion in a suit of armor. Although, his looks were deceiving, for he was more of a beast than a prince.
Sasuke returned her gaze, somewhat dumbfounded (though he didn't show it). Why was she examining him? She couldn't possibly be able to analyze his chakra or anything, because she carried no Kekkai Genkai. Perhaps he should activate his Sharingan just in case…
"Ne, Sasuke-kun…" her voice reached his ears, "I remember my mother reading a fairytale to me one night when I was little…"
Sasuke's temper flared, "So what?" He gritted his teeth, "What's it to you if I don't have parents?"
Sakura ignored his outburst and continued, "It was called 'The Beauty and the Beast'," She brushed a hair out of her eyes, "I had always thought you were like the Beast, striving to become a prince again."
Sasuke crossed his arms in front of his chest. Was this a trap of some kind? He couldn't sense anyone else. Maybe she really had been sent on her own…
Sakura's voice snapped him out of his thoughts, "But the more I think about it, you're just the opposite," A tear started to slid down her cheek, "You're a prince who is forcing himself to become a beast."
Sasuke was about to protest, but the words started to sink in. He remembered the first time his curse seal was activated, and the power it had given him. He remembered craving for even more power to aid him in killing off his older brother. In a sense, this power was forcing him to become a beast.
Sasuke scrutinized Sakura for a moment before speaking, "Then are you supposed to be the Beauty that will help me become a prince again?" He smirked when Sakura's gaze faltered from his and her face flushed. After almost three years, she still hadn't given up on him.
Sakura nodded, her fists clenched, "Yes, I'm determined to make you become a prince again," She pulled lightly on one of her gloves, "Even if by force, I will make you see what a beast you've become, Sasuke-kun!"
Sasuke could only give another smirk, "Well Beauty, before you fulfill that promise, can the Beast possibly return to his lonely castle and apologize to the village?"
Sakura blinked, before she realized just what he had said. A smile creased across her face as she ran to embrace him, "Yes!"
End to the Fluff
