I haven't written anything this short for a while. Chapters will kill your drabbling mood.
Two lovers
He had just killed his best friend.
Not killed her. Killed what they had.
He had found the one way to completely put a bitter end to their relationship. It had just taken one kiss.
He was furious at himself. All this time she'd stayed with him, supported him, strengthened him. And yet when she was unsure, he'd been too selfish to put aside his own stupid wants to see what she needed.
"I'm such an idiot…" he groaned. The damage was without a doubt irreparable. He could apologize. She could apologize. They could hug and smile at each other, joke around and practice bending, tease and have fun just like they used to, but it would never be the same. Because he wanted something more. And it was very clear to him that she didn't, and because of one kiss, probably never would.
Forbidden from one another
A war divides their people
She found it very hard not to look back.
It was nearly impossible, leaving him there, but she did. Left him and something else entirely.
She wondered what it would be like. It would be different from being "just friends", surely. But with him, maybe it wouldn't. Maybe it would be how it was all along. Maybe it was all along.
She knows it isn't, anymore.
But she had to. She couldn't give him a last kiss and watch him fly off to die, like before. She couldn't let her mind wander in battle, or his either. Distractions meant death. And she was still unsure. The feeling was fragile and surprising and new and confusing.
"I'm so confused…" she sighed. She tried to reassure herself it was the right thing to do. They'd still be friends. And if something happened, she had only prevented both of them from feeling more pain.
But then why did it hurt so much?
And a mountain divides them apart
