They Follow Him
Notes: This is something I've been thinking about for a couple of days. I really wanted to sum up what life with the Doctor was about and I think I've found something that works. I hope you enjoy it.

It's about following. It's about keeping your head and being loyal. It's about constant support for someone even if sometimes they don't recognise you for it 24/7. Everyone needs companions, friends. Misery loves company. Leaders are nothing with no one to lead.
It's about knowledge. It's about learning what you can but most importantly passing it on. It's not always EMC2 knowledge, sometimes it's about friendship, loyalty, living your life the best way you can. It's about being a chain, keeping the past alive but the future exciting. You touch the tassels of a vast carpet of knowledge and however hard you pull, you never get to feel or even see the other end. Life is patchwork. You add your square and learn from the others. You leave your mark so others learn from you.
It's about friendship. It's about staying together through everything, clinging to each other until your fingers snap. It's about trust, survival, saving someone's ass and hoping they'll save yours in return. It's about people so in tune they don't even have to speak, and making someone laugh until they cry. It's about loving someone so much you think you're heart can't stand the strain, to the point where you tear down a whole world of sin if it means you can save them.
It's about adventure. It's about a whole universe, light and dark, to explore and play with until you're too tired to go on. It's about getting in trouble and out of it, and turning obstacles into stepping stones to something bigger. Sometimes you're called upon to destroy, sometimes to save. Sometimes you save a whole world. Sometimes you save even more.
It's about inspiring people. It's about getting them outside their boxes and making things better. It's about living the best life you can so others will do the same. You help them see the errors of their ways, you build them up or tear them down. You point them in the right direction and trust them to do the right thing. It's not because you're better than them. It's because you have him.
He is all of these things and more. He is about leadership. He is about being responsible and taking the blame, making the hardest decisions because sometimes no one else can. He inspires, he teaches, he is adventure personified. He clings to people and they will always cling to him because he is a leader.
He is their leader, and to the ends of the universe, they will always follow him.
