Friend Zoned
Chapter One: The Kiss
Summary: Rico has secretly liked Jo for a while now, but with Danny back in Green Grove and him and Jo getting closer, Rico's window of opportunity to let Jo know how he feels is quickly closing.
Disclaimer: I don't own Twisted. Dedicated to MegaMona who requested a Rico/Jo story of some sort from me.
Rico walked into the hallway that held Jo's locker. He had been putting off telling her how he felt for a while, and he had finally decided to tell her today. When he looked up to see if she was at her locker or not, he was not please with what he saw. Jo was there alright, but she wasn't alone. She had her back against her locker and Danny was leaning towards her with his forearm resting above her head. Even from the other end of the hall, Rico could tell that Jo was flirting with Danny. In the years since Danny had left for juvie, Rico had watched from the friend zone while Jo attempted to flirt with guys that she thought were cute. She didn't realize that she already had a great guy in her life. When Danny leaned in and whispered something in Jo's ear that made her laugh, Rico got furious. He might not be as suave as Danny, or as good looking, but that was his Jo that Danny was flirting with, and it should have been him that was making her laugh like that. Walking over to Jo and Danny with determination, Rico pulled Jo's arm so that she was facing him.
"What the hell Rico?" Jo asked giving him a confused look while she rubbed her arm where he had grabbed her.
"I need to talk to you, alone, and every time that I try to do that, Danny comes over, or is mentioned, or you start talking about him and I can't bring myself to tell you. I like you Jo, a lot, and more than a friend." Rico said as he pressed his lips to hers in a sloppy kiss.
Pushing Rico away from her, Jo looked up at her best friend.
"What are you doing Rico?" She asked.
"I just wanted you to know." Rico said before he gave Danny a nod and turned to walk away.
"Rico! Get your ass back over here. We need to discuss this." Jo said, causing Rico to turn around and stare at her, along with the rest of the students that were in the hallway.
"There isn't anything else that I need to discuss Jo. I told you my feelings, I did what I've wanted to do for years and now you can have fun with your boyfriend." Rico said before walking away from his best friend.
If his friendship with Jo went downhill from there, he would be okay because he had told her how he felt and she could now make a knowledgeable decision on who she wanted to be with.
"I guess making Rico jealous worked, right Jo-Jo?" Danny asked.
"I guess so, but he shouldn't have done that. It's nice to know that he likes me back, but to just walk away without me being able to tell him how I feel is plain rude." Jo said before she opened her locker and got her books out.
"You'll find a way Jo; I have faith in you." Danny said with a smirk.
"Thanks Danny, that makes me feel a whole lot better." Jo said with a roll of her eyes as she slammed her locker shut.
"Hostile much?" Sarita asked as she walked by.
"Bite me Sarita." Jo retorted. Sarita stared at Jo in disbelief.
"You did not just say that to me." Sarita commented.
"Actually I did. I am sick and tired of you having to make rude comments on everything that I do. You are a Grade-A Bitch, and I've had it with you and your snotty "I'm-better-than-you" attitude. The next time that you feel the need to make a comment towards me, keep it to yourself." Jo snapped before grabbing Danny's arm and walking away leaving Sarita standing there, frozen in shock.
