Where was he? M'gann let her eyes go through the empty corridor, waiting for Conner. He said she had to wait for him at 2 o'clock, near the exit of the garage. All of the others were asleep, but she was still afraid someone would ask what she were doing here. She wasn't a great liar. Impatiently she checked the small clock behind her. 02.09 pm it said. He was late. M'gann thought about the words he said during todays mission. He said he wanted to talk about.. She sighed. He said, I want to talk about us. That couldn't be good. And if La'gann found out, she didn't even want to think about it. She wasn't scared that he would hurt Superboy, she was just scared she would screw up this relationship too. And that Superboy would hurt Lagoon boy. Cause even when he made himself bigger, he could never beat a clone of Superman.
Finally she heard footsteps coming, and she rubbed her arm, a little nervous. M'gann shook her head, and told herself she didn't have to be nervous. He just wanted to talk about them, and probably say that La'gann was a jerk. A soft laugh echoed in the garage, and M'gann felt her heart skip a beat. Almost she would facepalm herself for a feeling she felt inside, but Conner already stepped out of the darkness. "M'gann, I'm glad you're here." He said, approaching her. She forced a smile on her face and replied: "I'm glad I'm here too. At least, if this conversations is gonna be fun." His smile disappeared, and his face was like a closed book. She used to know what the words behind it said, but it seemed like she couldn't read anymore.
"So.", she said, "Why am I here?" He looked down, and answered quickly. "I know you don't want to hear it, and I actually don't want to say it either. It's just.." He looked up in those beautiful eyes, talking a little slower. "I miss you. I don't know if I could be together with you again, it's just that I miss the fun we used to have. The little moments, like giving you a hug, and screwing up when I try to help you cook. If it's okay with you, could we try to be friends again? Just friends, nothing more."
How did he expect her to say no to that? She stood there speechless, wishing she could get a useful word out of her mouth. She breathed deeply, and the words she wanted to say for such a long time floated out. "I really want to be friends again. I miss you too..." She stepped towards him and putted her arms around him.
Conner smiled, hugging her and holding her tight. Somewhere deep inside she was still the small Martian girl he fell in love with, but he wondered if she would be that again. No. She wouldn't. But he liked the beautiful young woman he was holding too. Maybe more than just a friend, but he couldn't forgive her yet. He hoped it would be like the saying. What was it again? Time heals all wounds... Yeah, that would be wonderful.
