My first ever fan fic! I have several ideas floating around, but the simplicity of this one meant it would be the one to see the world first. It's just a short (~230 words) oneshot about a funny idea I had after watching Adventure Time, my current favorite cartoon.

Jake sat in a comfy large chair by a small lantern fire. Outside, the pitter-patter of rain hitting the tree house told them that there were to be no adventures today. Instead, the dog had his face begrudgingly buried in today's Ooo Noooz to see what happenings he and his companion would be missing.
"'Ice King Harasses Local Family of Penguins.'", Jake mumbled, "Hee hee, what a loser."
Across the room, weeping sounds come from behind the bathroom door, only slightly louder than the rain outside. Jake had managed to ignore it for the last 45 minutes. Over the years, he has become more than used to it.
He turned the page. "'New Trend of Self Robbing in City of Thieves, Crime drops 12%.' That's...good, I guess."
Suddenly, the door opened and out stepped Finn, eyes puffy and still sniveling. Jake paid no attention to his sobbing friend.
"'Boom Boom' again, man?", he said, his nose still in the paper.
Finn sniffed and wiped his nose. "Yeah. I feel like such a turd. I'm going to bed.", he said through a choked voice.
"Okay. G'night, dude.", Jake said. Finn, still sobbing, climbed the ladder and went to bed.
From the bedroom, Jake could still hear Finn's weeping. He let out a long sigh and said, "Every single day. Geez!" He continued reading as the rain continued pouring.
