Summary: The kids are counting on her. Pre- Joe/Stella
Inspired by Stella's line of only eating ice cream when a guy breaks up with her and a guy never having broke up with her.
She's never had to eat ice cream. It's a fact she prides herself on. No boy is going to make her stoop that low; and certainly not some tight pant wearing, hair straightening, boy band man-child.
It's why she insisted that they can't go down that road, and that their friendship was too valuable. Joe's interest is fleeting, it always has been, even if she thinks the risk could be worth it or his mother informed her he's liked her since third grade.
She can't risk it.
Let's say they do date, and it ends badly. Well then she'd have to eat ice cream.
And if she ate one bit of that treacherous creamy sweet treat then she'd risk becoming addicted, just like Cathy Warner from Contemporary Lit class who always has to have a chocolate bar on her.
And if she became addicted than she'd start gaining weight.
And if she gained weight than none of her carefully picked out and expensive clothes would fit anymore.
And if they didn't fit then she'd have to buy more.
And if she had to buy more than she'd have no money to buy material for the band's clothes.
And if she couldn't make the boys' outfits than she'd loose what little of a name she has.
And if she lost her reputation than she'd never make it as a designer.
And if she fails at being a designer than she won't make the big bucks someday.
And if she doesn't make a lot of money then she'll never be able to donate any to a charity.
There are starving kids in Africa are counting on her!
She can't risk that; he could break her heart (and then she'd have to eat ice cream.)
