Maine's End
The teal one drove his sword into the side of my chest. I felt the pain but I ignored it. The blade then deactivated and fell. My fist collided with his head and sent him flying away from me. Sigma wasn't here to aid me in battle but I didn't care. The AI would be mine! Even If I had to kill every single one of them!
*BLAM!*The blast of a shotgun hit me. It was far range so all it did was weaken my shields. I turned to face the red one. "Come here you big son of a #%$!" He said to me. I obliged by walking to him. He was approaching to me as well. He fired his gun again. *BLAM!* My shields weakened again. *BLAM!* My shields broke fully. I was exposed.
I could hear the others talking as they watched us get closer. The red one fired again. I ducked, knocked the gun out of his hand and grabbed his neck. "Hey Grif!" He said gasping for air. "I've lost my shotgun! "What am I gonna do without my "shotgun"!? "Shotgun &$%# it!" Why did he keep saying that? Was he crazy? No matter, he will die any way.
"Shotgun?" A voice said. "Uggghhh!", said the red one. He was dieing as I choked him harder. "Hey Meta," He said to me before patting my chest plate. "Settle a bet would ya? I was preparing to snap his neck in half. "Does that thing look like a big cat to you?" He said pointing to the right. I turned. There stood 2 soldiers pushing a warthog near the edge. Its tow hook was out. I followed the line with my eyes when I saw where it stopped. It was attached to me.
The two pushed the vehicle off the edge. I looked at the red one. Before I could respond, I was pulled off my feet and dragged to the edge. My AI unit fell off. No! As I continued getting closer to the edge, I noticed someone. The orange one…. HE HAD MY BRUTE SHOT! I grabbed his legs. If I had to die, I would at least take one of them with me. I could take my weapon back and… As we came to the edge, the maroon one grabbed the orange one's hands. I lost my grip and roared. As I fell I realized something. &%#$ing karma. I had thrown Carolina off a snowy edge long ago. I guess it finally caught up to me. *Splash!*
As the tow hook continued to drag me down, water was flooding up in my helmet. I tugged on it until finally it broke. I tried to swim back up but I was drowning. I was so close but I would fail. Wait…. Its getting colder? The water. I'm freezing. At least I'd live. Hopefully.
Miles down the cold river, chunks of ice floated down. One containing a lost freelancer that may never be found.
