The cart's wheels squeaked down the aisle, and Haymitch Abernathy grimaced. "I swear Effie, you grabbed the most annoying cart possible."

"The noise isn't all that bad!" Effie cried in indignation at his gross exaggeration. "You can barely hear it."

"Yeah, I can barely hear it," mumbled Haymitch under his breath.

"What was that dear?"

"Oh, absolutely nothing Effie!" Haymitch cried out in a passable impersonation of Effie's strong capitol accent.

Effie, stalked ahead as they rolled down the toppings aisle of the grocery store. She dropped a jar of creamy peanut butter in the basket and kept walking until she noticed Haymitch was no longer right behind her. He had stopped dead in the middle of the aisle. "What's wrong now?" She asked impatiently. "We have more shopping to do!"

"Creamy peanut butter? Creamy peanut butter?" Haymitch asked indignantly. "Did you just drop creamy peanut butter into this cart?"

"Obviously I did, Haymitch. And what's wrong with creamy?"

"You have to get crunchy. There's no point to peanut butter otherwise!" He reached into the cart, put the creamy back on the shelf, and dropped in crunchy.

"Crunchy is disgusting!" Effie cried out. "Why on earth would you want crunchy peanut butter? It's the smoothness that makes peanut butter delicious! Now buy the creamy, and let's leave."

"No!" shouted Haymitch. "I will not buy, eat, or make a sandwich with creamy peanut butter!"

"Yes! You will!" Effie shouted right back. Then looked around as if noticing what they were doing. The other customers were staring at them, as if shocked by the argument. "Haymitch, dear, you're causing a scene."

"I will cause a scene! I will not eat creamy peanut butter." Effie swiveled around in exasperation and stalked out of the store, leaving Haymitch to purchase all their groceries.

Effie was waiting in the car when Haymitch was done. As he started the car, Effie started crying. "I'm sorry Haymitch, it was a stupid thing to get mad about. It's just that so much has happened, and people I knew died! They died!" Effie covered her face with her hands and continued sobbing.

"Effie, please don't cry," said Haymitch frantically. "I don't know what to do when you cry. It's all over now, though. The rebellions over." He murmured comforting words to Effie as he patted her back. Eventually Effie sat up and wiped her eyes dry.

"You're right. You're right. Let's just go."

It was lunch time by the time they got back to the house. "Haymitch you make lunch. I need to go reapply my makeup. It's smeared all over the place now!" cried Effie glancing in a mirror.

Haymitch started making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and handed one to Effie when she came back.

"Thank you Haymitch," said Effie before she took a bite.

"You are absolutely welcome."

Haymitch grinned at the satisfying crunch when she took a bite.
