All Is Fair
...in love and war, right? Whoever came up with that phrase had to be a sadistic freak. Was it truely fair to slaughter a man, knowing that someone had to break the news to his family? Or how about when your bestfriend in the world lusted after the man she knew you loved first? Well, someone had to figure it out, or else they wouldn't have come up with the idea of the saying 'life isn't fair. That person was smart. These thoughts fluttered through one soldier's head, as her captain shouted orders.
The man was tall, dark and handsome, or at least to herself. His name was Yukimura, and the girl prayed that she would be in his squadren. Her sister on the other hand had no taste in men. It wasn't that she liked ugly men, in fact, she didn't like men at all.
"Alright troops, this is a battle for the Sanada. So do your best! I know some of you aren't directly from the Sanada, but we welcome you with open arms." Yukimura shouted.
The girl sighed dreamily as Yukimura paced in front of them, until she was nudged in the side with a hilt. "Keep it down Machire, or he'll hear you." hissed a boy beside her.
Machire nodded her head briefly and began to tune in with what Yukimura was saying now. "This half will come with my father." Yukimura motioned slowly to the soldiers on his right. Machire's eyes glistened, she was on the left half, that meant she was teaming with Yukimura-san. As much as she longed to squeal in glee, she remained quiet through the rest of the speech.
After a tedious hour of words, Yukimura pumped his fist in the air. All the soldiers jostled with joy and excitement, some even whistled.
The scenary was typical for war, a small area filled with thousands of soldiers. Yukimura's eyes eluminated a sadness, that Machire understood. Barely any of them would come back alive, if any at the end of this battle. They would all die, and that didn't bother them. Machire believed that if she could die beside the ones she loved, she would be happy.
As the battle started, gunshots surprised the troops. People screamed, blood flew everywhere. What kind of magic is this? Machire thought to herself. Then it hit her. Her sister was out there somewhere! She needed to find her before-. Her thought was left imcomplete, when a sharp pain erupted in the back of her head. Some man laughed at her, while she ly on the ground, presumbly dead. Her thoughts narrowed. She thought of only two people. Her sister and Yukimura, both out there. Her last thoughts before the blackness overcame her were prayers of safety for the ones she loved..
