The Maid Chronicles

You never saw. None of you knew. I was here since Akito was a little girl.

Her parents knew of the curse and when they found out she was to be the new leader they hated her. They forgot the good times and from the age of five they abused her. She had no friends and the weight of the curse made her sick. She tried love but they all left her. Finally she went within herself. You all hate her but I know and I wait for that little girl to come back and for her to stop pretending to be a man. Until then I watch and I see and I hurt.

Kyo's mother

I watch the mother of the cat talk to Akito. She's pregnant again. She thinks Akito will be happy. She is ecstatic. She wants a sibling for Kyo.

Her eyes widen as Akito laughs and begins to beat her.

"No!" she screams.

"You'll kill it!" she moans, crying.

Akito laughs and he leaves her.

I watch as she weeps and I realize she's bleeding from a bad place. I know she's losing the baby.

She watches as I approach.

"Why?" she asks.

I know she's asking why I didn't help. She doesn't know how that question hurt me.

I help her up and carry her to the doctor. She cried even more when Hatori told her that her baby was gone.

The next day she killed herself.

Yuki's mother

"My lord Akito. I know what you plan for Ayame. Please spare him," she pleads.

Akito gazes at her.

"Give me Yuki," he says.

"Yuki my son?" she asks, appalled.

"Give me him and I will do what you ask," Akito says calmly, knowing he's tearing her apart but knowing her answer.

"Yes," she whispers.

The next day Yuki was sent to live with Akito.

Momiji's mother

"I'm going to have a baby," a woman says cautiously.

"I know. He will be cursed. He is mine," Akito smiles.

"No!" she says. She knows the rules and yet…

Akito gazes at her maliciously.

"What will you give me in return for your son?" he asks.

She thinks.

"Myself," she says voice unfaltering.

She gave herself to Akito for her son but by the time Momiji was born she had changed. She now hated the son that she had given so much to keep but she also knew that had she not made the deal and had Akito taken her son she would have been as unhappy.

I watched all of this. I knew what the outcome would be but I didn't say anything. Now I watch as she goes around with her daughter. She does not know she has a son.

I have seen all of this and more and you might think I'm cruel for not saving these people. For staying silent for so long but I had my reasons. We all have our crosses to bear and this is mine.
