Lightleap gently smiled at her brother, Shadowflight, the young tom blushing. "Congratulations," she told him. "I knew you'd get there!" Lightleap quickly took note of Puddleshine's soft smile in the background. Shadowflight chuckled. "Even with my seizures and everything," he mused. Lightleap's other littermate, Pouncestep, padded up to her brother and butted his shoulder. "Don't start going negative on me!" Pouncestep twitched her gray tail in good nature.
Antfur sat next to Lightleap, who was watching her excited parents, Tigerstar and Dovewing cheer on her brother. "I didn't get that kind of cheering when I got my name," he chuckled. Lightleap shrugged. "Maybe it's because you're twice as old as me?" she offered kindly. Antfur smiled. "It's fine," he mewed. "I suppose I should take Blazefire hunting." Pouncestep darted over to Antfur. "Can I come?" Her amber eyes were begging. "Maybe we can bring Cinnamontail too!" Antfur smiled as Lightleap stepped back. "Sure," he mewed awkwardly.
Lightleap sighed as she padded over to Cloverfoot, who was sorting out patrols. "Hello, Lightleap!" Cloverfoot greeted the young warrior. Lightleap nodded at the brown tabby. "Any patrols?" Cloverfoot shook her head. "I've already sent them out, Lightleap," she mewed. Lightleap shrugged. "It's fine," she replied earnestly. "I'll just hunt on my own, then." Cloverfoot nodded. "Watch for the SkyClan border!" she warned as Lightleap left the camp.
Lightleap rolled her eyes at Cloverfoot's warning. She'd be on her own anyways. Ever since Shadowflight had his vision all those moons ago, cats who broke the warrior code were punished in a range of apprentice duties to exile. Lightleap just wished she could shake off that burden. She wasn't a fighter like Pouncestep, and she wasn't quite connected to StarClan like Shadowflight.
Twitching her ears, she heard the slight rustles of prey in the grass. Turning, she crouched down and began to stalk towards it. She scented a shrew, as she got closer to it's brown furry body. She quickly pounced and killed the small creature and quickly looked up to find a tan tom glancing down at her. Lightleap let out a surprised squeak as she jumped back. The tom chuckled, his olive eyes warm and mischievous. "So much for being a big scary ShadowClan warrior," he teased.
Lightleap narrowed her eyes. "You've trespassed on ShadowClan territory," she warned the tom. "Hah!" the tom meowed. "You're another one of the code strong cats!" He lifted a paw and stifled a purr. Lightleap glared at the tom, her green eyes blazing. The tom put his paw down and smirked. "No worries!" he mewed. "I'll let you know that some of the Clan's greatest heros broke the code. Did you know that Violetshine betrayed Darktail while in his so-called kin?" Lightleap sighed. "You need to leave," she told him. The tom chuckled awkwardly. "I'll just let you know that one of our apprentices claimed that he saw a ghost that looked like Bramblestar," he mewed, turning back towards the SkyClan border.
Lightleap quickly shook herself. "Umm… thanks….." Lightleap didn't know the toms name, but the cocky tom decided to tell her instantly. "It's Gravelnose," he mewed, darting away. Lightleap picked up her shrew that she had dropped during the commotion and she padded back towards camp. Cloverfoot stared at her. "I was sure that you'd catch more than just a shrew," she told Lightleap. "Spit it out." Lightleap nodded. "I had to chase off another one of those SkyClan cats," she told her. Cloverfoot sighed. "That Clan of youngsters," she muttered. "When will the lot learn?" Lightleap shrugged. "Yeah," she agreed. "When will they learn?"
Lightleap turned to see Antfur's patrol returning with lots of prey. "It looks like a feast tonight," she told the dark tom. Antfur nodded. "I think Pouncestep also has a crush on me," he mewed quietly. Lightleap tilted her head. "I don't see anything wrong with that," she mewed. "No," Antfur mewed. "I'm in love with Cinnamontail."
