There were very few things Pintel enjoyed more than treasure. Baked goods, while not above treasure, was very close to it. Any chance he got he would steal a little tart or pastry. If it was warm and he wanted it enough, he might even pay for it, if he couldn't distract the shopkeep long enough to nab it. A few times he outright robbed a bakery, but he preferred to avoid that, as it drew too much attention. Sometimes he just couldn't help himself however…

Pintel's latest escapades with baked goods happened in a town he didn't bother to learn the name of. It was still early in the morning, not even dawn. However, a good baker is up long before the sun, preparing for the day. It was also the best time to grab something unnoticed. He ambled into the store, intent on leaving with a full belly.

He was so focused on what was before him he didn't hear someone else enter.

"Good morning."

Pintel startled. He turned around to face a girl all of sixteen. She was obviously kin of the baker.

"'Ello," he replied.

"Is there something I can help you find?" She asked sweetly

" No."

She nodded. "I'll just be in the back finishing up. Please call if you need me." She turned and went back where she came from.

Pintel mentally scolded himself. Some little slip of a girl had snuck up on him. Ragetti would never let him hear the end of it, if he knew. Which he never would. Pintel would make sure of that. He went back to inspecting the treats in front of him, occasionally snagging one to hastily shove in his mouth.

"Parfait?"

Pintel jumped. Little chit had snuck up on him again! Then the word she said registered. He turned on her and bellowed furiously "Parley!"

The girl's eyes went huge. She took a step back and stuttered.

Pintel yelled right over her objections. "Damn to the depth of Hell whichever bastard thought of parley!"

"N-no!" the girl hastily said. She held up the tray she was holding. "Parfait."

Pintel leaned close to inspect the dish on the tray. "Parfait?"

The girl nodded.

Pintel stuck his finger in the cup and pulled it out. Creamy pudding coated his appendage. He stuck it in his mouth and sucked it clean. "'s good."

"Would you like it?" she asked, watching him like he was a wild animal about to attack. Which, he kind of was.

He took the tray and started to eat the dessert in answer. The girl went back behind the counter putting the rest of the parfaits on display. Pintel took his time eating the treat, even licking clean the spoon and as much of the cup as he could. He paid her for the treat and said a guff

"Thanks" before leaving.

He knew what he was going to look for the next time. But he definitely wasn't going to pay for it again!
