They both looked so beautiful walking down the hallway. Their smiles glowed like their skin and the way they laugh, it's the most wonderful sound in the world. Unfortunately, they will only know me as him, the one who broke a heart, and a bond. It all started one day in Starbucks, that's where I work, you see. They had always been my best friends, Maria, Zoey, and I, we were inseparable, always had been, and I thought we always would be. But I guess I'd never noticed how pretty they both were. Zoey with her long, curly, brown hair and soft brown eyes, and Maria who had radiant blue eyes, short black hair, and made up for her small height with a large personality. They'd been the first to talk to me in 3rd grade when I moved to America from Austria. Zoey and Maria had been the first to look past my thick accent and foreign appearance as no one else had, making me feel almost at home. Throughout the years we had grown close, and I didn't think one statement could break that bond so easily.

This year I took a job at Starbucks to earn some extra money, since at 14 I was old enough. It was my first day of work and a familiar voice, or should I say voices, broke my thoughts. Then they came up giving me a ridiculously long order, I asked them if they were serious, and unfortunately they were. So after trying to pronounce it several times, we gave up and they ordered two hot chocolates.

"When do you get off?" Maria asked

"Ya, this job has got you so tied up we rarely see you anymore." Zoey added

"Huh, this is my- oh," I had just realized they were joking, boy did I feel smart. "I get off in 10, I'll meet you at your table."

"Okay!" they said in unison.

Waiting for Heath in Starbucks™ made me realize something. Heath's actually kind of cute, and he's the one constant thing in my life. I wonder if he would ever like me, I'm not exactly pretty; everyone has brown hair, and Maria's way cooler than me. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

"Hey Heath what's up?" Zoey said batting her eyelashes.

"Sup." I answered

"Wanna hang out later?"

"Can't, maybe another day."

"Okay Bye!" she said wearily.

Well that didn't go so well I thought to myself while walking out of the Starbucks.
