All credit for the ideas behind this story goes to my friends from elementary school: Rainstar, Spottednose (who went through several name changes), and Mossheart; and of course to Eric Hunter, the original mastermind behind this all.

I am fairly certain that there are going to be inaccuracies in this story. I have not read all of the Warriors books, and I doubt I remember everything perfectly from the ones that I have. If you find a mistake, deal with it, either by doing your best to ignore it, or by telling me about it so I can fix it for the future. I would like to keep things fairly accurate until the point where this story branches off.

Of course, when the storyline does diverge, it's going to be fairly major. This is my Clan's story, I'm going to tell it right. And in this universe, things happened differently.

Prologue

Long, long ago, in a forest far from here, there lived a large group of cats. They had little organisation, and the different groups often fought over various things, such as fresh-kill, hunting territories, and sleeping places.

The fights became bigger and bigger, until one full moon night, the biggest one of all started. The cats of the forest all fought in that battle, and many were slain.

Looking back on their lives, and forwards towards the future, the dead cats wished that they'd set aside their differences. They realized that if the remaining living cats didn't stop their battling, they would all wind up dead.

The cat spirits joined together, forming StarClan. Once combined, they halted the fight, and convinced the living cats to form an allegiance of their own, instead of squabbling all the time.

Having agreed to do their best to stop fighting, the cats of the forest fell asleep, with the soft light of the full moon trickling through the leaves to land on their fur, and StarClan watching over them.

The next morning, the cats decided that if they were going to band together, they would need a leader. The only problem was, there were several cats who wanted to claim that position.

Wind, long and sleek, a fast runner.

Shadow, a quiet and insightful cat.

River, who could swim across streams, or sit on their banks and catch fish.

Sky, who had powerful hind legs and liked to jump into the treetops.

And Thunder, Sky's kit, though not raised by him.

The cats argued about who should be the leader, barely keeping from continuing the fight from the previous night. Eventually, they decided that there would be five Clans of cats in the forest along with the one up in the sky.

ThunderClan, WindClan, ShadowClan, RiverClan, SkyClan.

The Clans would be sorted by their abilities, and each would choose the territory best suited for them.

And every full moon, the Clans would meet to share their experiences with each other and StarClan.

-how the Clans were formed, as it was told to Pinepaw by the elder Darktail about fifty moons after our story starts.

So, I really shouldn't be starting another story… but it's been so long since I've been inspired to write and I had resolved to write this story long before any of my others, so you're getting this anyways. I don't know if I'll be able to find the inspiration to write much of this (considering my past record, it's doubtful) but I'm going to at least make an attempt.
