But I can't do this all on my own
No, I know, I'm no Superman
I'm no Superman

I'm no superman, Lazlo Bane

"Jasper?" Alice called. I immediately jumped away from the computer and ran to her at vampire speed. She was waiting by her yellow Porsche, hands on hips.

"Where have you been? The mall opens in five minutes!" I rolled my eyes, but quickly stopped as I realized that would anger her more. She was glaring at me, making me feel more than a little intimidated. I gulped, and said in what I hoped was a casual tone,

"Ali, it only takes a minute for us to get there in the car when we go our average speed. Besides, we're always the first ones there even when we're there 10 minutes after it opens!" A smug smile spread across my face as I thought my point was fool-proof. So you understand that I was surprised when I felt Alice's growing anger. I took a step backwards and held up my hands in protest.

"Relax, Alice! I was only saying—"

"Only SAYING!" She screeched at me. "What do you mean, only saying?! This season's clothes have just come into the shops TODAY, so if we get there on time I get first pick of the new season! .Crucial!"

She glared fiercely and slightly manically at me. I felt her emotions and was scared to find that they were bordering on insanity. I realized I had to act quickly, so I picked her up bridal-style and jumped into the car, starting the engine and driving us out the drive one-handed. I let go of Alice and checked the speed-o-meter, making sure it was rising way past the 90 mph mark. I glanced at the road before looking at Alice. She was smiling softly at me, her emotions calm. I raised my eyebrows and she giggled softly.

"It's ok," She grinned. "I'm not angry anymore. On the contrary, I'm really excited about the new clothes; I can see that we're going to make it in time for the opening and that I get all the best clothes."

I sighed in relief and she winked at me.

"Even when it seems like we will fail, you always come to the rescue. My very own Superman. " I chuckled under my breath as I turned into the parking lot by the mall. I jumped out the car and ran to open Alice's door. She took the hand I offered and giggled slightly as I bowed to her. I pulled her gently close to me just as the doors were opened and whispered in her ear,

"I'm no Superman."
