The peacekeepers drag me out of the building and shove me out the door. I try to run back in and see Katniss, to tell her what I'd tried to say as the Peacekeepers dragged me out, but the door is locked. I bury my head in my hands and shout. I run to the fence that is usually never electrified and climb over it. I run to the woods and pick up rocks and start throwing them angrily. After throwing rocks, I collapse onto the ground, unsure what to do. Katniss was going to the games, and I couldn't do anything about it. Why didn't I volunteer? Why didn't I choose to go into the games and protect her? Why was I such an idiot?! I picked up a bigger rock and threw it far and hard. I wouldn't watch the games; I wouldn't watch Katniss be killed... I couldn't. I'd stay in the woods when the games started, and then if I came back and she was dead then at least I wouldn't have to watch it. At least I could be spared of that...

I look up at the TV screen. Katniss had survived the bloodbath, had survived the careers finding her, had survived the forest fire, and had survived her encounter with Marvel. But Peeta had survived too... and now there was a rule change and they could both come home. That was fine by me; as long as Katniss was happy.
My eyes grew wide and my stomach dropped as I saw Katniss lean in and kiss Peeta. What. Was. She. Doing?! I looked down, not able to look at her or Peeta any longer. Why was she kissing him?! He was the enemy! It was all a scam! He was going to kill her while she was sleeping and then win the games himself! I looked up at the screen again, and they were still kissing, which made me even more mad than before.

Katniss and Peeta slid off the cornucopia, Cato now dead. The announcer said that only one of them could go home, and I understood. It was all part of the games; a lie so that there would be a tragic ending. Peeta told Katniss to kill him. Do it, I thought to myself. Come home. But then Katniss didn't kill him. She pulled out berries and my eyes grew large. No! I thought. Don't kill yourself! He's not worth it! They both started to put the berries to their mouths when the announcer shouted for them to stop. They threw the berries to the ground and the hovercraft came to get them. Katniss was alive. She had survived the games.

Katniss smiled and waved into the crowd. Prim sat on my shoulders and waved to Katniss. I smiled and looked at Katniss. She was home, and now we could be together. I could tell her I loved her and we would be together. My smile faded, though, as I saw her hand clasp around Peeta's. Was she really going to be mine, or was Peeta going to take her?
