Finnick:
I heard a terrible zapping sound as Peeta was thrown backwards. I saw Katniss slapping him and shaking him, screaming his name. Propping Mags against a tree, I ran over and pushed Katniss aside. I had to keep Peeta alive. I had to. I checked his pulse, but found nothing. Leaning over the boy's limp body, I close his nose off with my fingers. I hear Katniss running over and bring my free hand back, knocking her away. I close off his nose again so no oxygen can escape. Tilting his head back slightly, I put my mouth over his. Blowing carefully measured amounts of air into his lungs, I feel the taste of his lips. Pulling away, I pump the place over his heart when suddenly.
He coughs.
I sit back and grin as he acknowledges me.
"F-Finn?"
I chuckle, but get no chance to speak to him as Katniss comes over. Backing off, I sigh and head toward Mags.
"That was heroic." She says.
"It was nothing..." I grumble, "He's in good hands now."
She gives me a toothless smile and pats my shoulder, "He'll always be in good hands, Finnick. Especially, with you around."
"Wh-What's that supposed to mean?"
Mags cackles and shakes her head, "You'll see."
Peeta:
The lips.
They're not... right.
A taste of salty water and sandy beaches enters my mind. I begin thinking who this person could be. Could it be Mags? She was from District 4 and sandy beaches and salty water go right along with that, but there's something stronger about these lips...
I'm not sure if I'm dead or not; if the feel of someone putting air into my lungs is real or imaginary. I feel weight getting pumped down onto my chest Suddenly, I feel myself catch my breath. My eyes flutter open and I see Finnick Odair sitting back.
"F-Finn?" I mumble, shaken by what just happened.
Before he can reply, I see Katniss sobbing and flying over to me. I peer at Finnick, but he backs off and walks over by the tree. How did I not see it?
His lips.
They're the ones that saved me.
He saved me.
