AN: I have no clue whatsoever where this is going. I just had a rare
moment of inspiration for the first chapter, one of those word by word
things, and I had to write it. In fact, I am not even sure I am going to
keep up with this, and I probably will not, though I would really like to.
I do know, however, that any possible pairings (I only say possible not
because there is any doubt that these are the ones, but there is doubt to
the fact that I am going to follow up with anything containing a plot) are
Nathan/Haley and Lucas/Peyton. Yeah, totally predictable, but that is me.
So this chapter is, essentially, an introduction to all the characters, starting with the entire Scott family of Nathan, Deb, and Dan.

Chapter One:
Keeping Up with the Joneses
The Scott family were not the Perfect Joneses by any means, though they were. They had the athletic, attractive son, the prosperous, homemaker wife, and the respected, breadwinner husband. They were the subject of no gossip or possible scandal, not because people did not want to talk about them that way in hopes of making themselves look better, but because it was impossible to make them look anything but perfect.
There was another side to the Scott family, although it was more like a completely seperate, different family. They had the steriod-addicted son, the struggling, emotionally scarred wife, and the controlling, vindictive husband. They were the object of scorn and scandal, maybe because people wanted to talk about them like that, and also because that was what was gradually happening.
And people came to learn that there was another Scott family, too. There was the athletic, protective son, the happily adjusted, cheery wmother, who wasn't really a Scott at all, and the bitter, go-between brother, the only one that had been raised a Scott.
There were others, too. There was the blissfully unaware, loyal best friend and girlfriend, the rebelious, helpless friend, and the competitive, blindsighted possible girlfriend and friend.
And not a one of them knew what going to happen in the mess of life.
