Seeking Peace

By Cougar's Catnip

Jess rolled over. She blinked blearily in the dim light that streamed in from the streetlight. She could just make out Jake's form rocking slowly in the chair in front of the window. She lay quietly watching him.

He sighed softly, his face drawn and sad.

"You miss them." She whispered.

"Every day, every second." He turned and glanced at her. "There is only one time I have any peace." He rose and slipped under the covers drawing her close. He buried his face in her neck and drew her scent deep into his lungs.

"When is that?"

He smiled gently and pulled her over on top of him so that she straddled his hips. Carefully he sank into her. "Moments like this, when I am buried deep inside you."

Jess's breath caught at the pain in his voice. "Jake? Where you two… close?"

He stopped moving and stared at her. He closed his eyes and the look of pure agony that crossed his face made her cry for hurting him with her questions.

"Yes, Jess he was my lover."

"But then… why?"

"Why am I with a woman now?" He laughed sardonically. "I am not into men, Jess. I was just into Cougar. I loved him regardless of his gender not because of it. And it rips my fucking heart out every time I realize that I am not us anymore."

A/N - Alex told me about the comic and I promptly started the local chapter of Clan Denial. It never happened BUT this story just demanded to be told.

The soundtrack for this story would be Diamond Rio ~ One More Day With You
