Proposal

"That was the lamest thing you've ever said."

drabble.

"Marry me," Draco pipes up, breaking their comfortable silence.

"That was the lamest thing you have ever said." Hermione sniggers.

Draco rolls his eyes. "Please Granger?"

Hermione's head is on Draco's shoulder, her legs are wrapped around his. She slowly untangles her legs and raises her head, looking at Draco's eyes. "Is this really how you want to propose to me? I get that you're not a romantic bloke; I don't expect you to be romantic either. But come on I'm in my pajamas and you don't even have a ring. It's pathetic."

"I have a ring," Draco mutters defensively. However, the gloomy look on Hermione's face made him rethink his decision to ask her to marry him on a whim. Blurting out suddenly was definitely a mistake. "You know I love you Hermione."

Hermione pouts, "Yes, I do know that… but I always wanted a romantic proposal…" Hermione trails off.

This time Draco laughs. "Do you want me to Obliviate you so I can propose to you romantically?"

Hermione smacks him on the arm. "I don't want that Draco."

Draco smiles lazily at the brunette. "Wait for a bit."

He gets up from the couch leaving Hermione. Quickly, he goes to their shared bedroom and opens the drawer where he keeps almost all of his clothes. Hidden under the layers of clothes is a small box. He takes it out. He has been preparing for this for a long time and he really did not mean to blurt it out. Nothing he could do now.

Hermione briefly wonders what Draco is doing in the bedroom. But soon he's in front of her kneeling, a small box with a ring stuck inside on his hands. "I really did not mean to ask you to marry me this way." Draco starts. "I mean, I had a plan and everything Hermione. Look, I am completely in love with you and there is nothing that could change that. Sure, we had our scuffles back in our school days but I changed and so did you. If I could go back, I would have done many things differently but I can't. I am so grateful that you decided to see the good in me and I'd like to spend the rest of my life trying to repay you for how you saved. If you would allow me," Draco knows he has a cocky grin on his face right now but he does mean everything he said.

"Yes, Draco, I'll marry you." Draco slides the ring in Hermione's finger. A perfect fit, Draco may be a bit cheesy to think: Just like them.

Hermione wraps her arms around Draco. He smiles at the girl, dropping a kiss on her lips. "I love you so much." He whispers as he pulls away from the kiss.

"I love you too," Hermione utters.

"Now tell me, do you think that was lame?" Draco recalls Hermione's statement.

"Yes, a little bit." Hermione scrunches up her nose.

Draco laughs, "You want it to be lame. I just asked you to marry me in the coolest way possible."

Hermione rolls her eyes but smiles at blonde headed man anyway. Things are good and she hopes it remains that way.
