Yes, he was clueless and completely socially awkward.
And that fact had placed him in dozens of bad situations. Not to mention all those times, he really messed things up. But Julia had been brave. She´d made a mistake, but she hadn't run away or tried to cover it up. Unlike him, she actually had the guts to stand by her actions. He was a socially inadequate coward, so what was Julia seeing in him anyway? Everybody else seemed to see nothing, except a big self-centered jerk. Julia really was an exceptional girl.
Thinking back, he wondered how he´d missed it. How he had missed the fact, that Julia had been right in front of him all the time. Apparently he´d totally missed all those times, she´d tried to make a move before. But then again, he was socially awkward, and not by any definition used to girls coming on to him.
At first, he´d actually thought Joe had come around that day. She´d acted nice around him, smiling and being friendly. That alone should have set his alarms off. Joe was not acting completely… well completely like Joe.
And if that wasn't weird enough she apparently also liked Halo 3 and science fiction. Now that definitely didn't sound anything like the Joe he knew. And, as it had turned out, she wasn't. Instead he´d saw a bit of Julia right then and there. And he liked what he saw. Now all he wanted was to get to know her even better.
And, thanks to Dr. Blake, he now had the chance. Julia could stay in Eureka.
