Author's Notes: I do not own Halo. But I do believe I own THIS Noble Six, at least everyone else says they own their version.
Noble Thoughts
"What does he get off calling a demolition op priority one" Those were the last words she ever said. Her final thought was interrupted by a Needle Rifle's round piercing her skull. Noble Six looked back and saw her collapse.
No, no! Six thought as he ran back to her, please let the helmet have caught it, please. But luck wasn't on his side; he saw the hole in the back of her head. Without even thinking, he pulled out her sidearm and began firing at the Covenant ship overhead.
You bastards! Six screamed in his head, he wanted to scream it aloud but his mouth didn't work, first Jorge, my friend, gives up his life to fight you, now you've killed Kat, my love. Six kept firing, the other Nobles firing as well. The Covenant ship began to fly away. The other Nobles continued back into the bunker. Six picked up the fallen Noble and carried the corpse into the bunker. Carter set off a blue flare as they waited for an EVAC.
"You okay Six?" Carter asked.
"Yeah, I'll be fine in a bit." Six responded.
"It's never easy to lose a teammate." Carter said, "And Kat was a good one."
"What channels to I have to go through to have her body shipped?" Six asked, "I know during times of war like this a solider can't always get a decent burial. I want her to be buried like the Covenant wasn't a factor."
"Well well, a few undeclared feelings hmm?" Emile asked smugly.
"I can't imagine what you're feeling six." Carter said, "I can't promise anything, most requests along those lines have been denied lately. We can't use the resources. But I'll place the request anyway."
"Thanks." Six said, "As soon as we get back to a base, I'm changing my armor."
"Why?" Jun asked.
"I want to keep Kat closer to me." Six said, "So I'm getting my colors changed. So at least in some small way, she'll always be with me."
"That's pretty sappy six." Emile said once again sharpening his knife, "But, I'm not going stop you. Do whatever you want."
"I will." Six said, "And I swear on my life, I will not stop killing the Covenant until my body is so riddled with plasma wounds that I'm nothing but a charred corpse. I vow I will fight until Reach is safe from the Covenant once and for all or I will die trying!"
Eventually, the EVAC ship came and got the surviving Noble team out of there. Six replaced the orange sections of his armor with light blue. And he began to fight the Covenant with a renewed passion. But alas, even the fierceness summoned from Kat's death couldn't save him in the end. In one final stand, he fought off as much of the Covenant's forces as he could, but suffered the same fate as most of the Noble team. And as he lay there, giving in to the embrace of death, one thought was on his mind. I'm sorry Kat. Not just for failing here, but for not being able to save you back in New Alexandria. But I love you, and I hope I can see you in the afterlife.
After that thought, the final amount of air left his lungs and Noble Six slipped into the eternal darkness of death.
Well, there you go. I hope you liked the story. Please don't be made at me for length. This was my very first one-shot. But I'm happy how it turned out.
