This is a one shot I wrote a while ago but at that time I didn't have a fanfiction account

Takes place a month before the reaping in the Seam

I walked along the dirt trail through the Seam. It was freezing outside, 6:00 in the morning on a tuesday.

Clutching tightly to the wicker basket of laundry for Hazelle, I was shaking.

Not from the cold really, that was tolerable with my fleece jacket. It was more the nerves that were making me shiver.

I'm going to the Hawthorne's house. To drop off laundry for Hazelle. Rory will be there. It's not that big of a deal, I thought to myself.

I reached the front of the house. A very familiar, very handsome boy opened the door. Rory. I blushed, fully aware that he could see my face turn beet red. He just smiled his gorgeous smile, and laughed.

"Hey Prim!" He greeted me.

"Hi Rory!" I replied, attempting to not look or sound ridiculous.

Even if I did, Rory just smiled again and said,

"My mom can take that," motioning towards the basket of clothes I was holding. "she'll do it for free for you."

I slipped 4 coins into his hand.

"Or not." He smirked.

Hazelle worked as hard as she could to supply for her family, even with Gale going with my sister everyday to hunt and trade at the Hob. Any money, even a little bit, was greatly appreciated.

Hazelle came to the door, greeted me, and took the basket from my hands.

"Did Gale leave this?" She asked.

"Yes," I replied, "at my house last night while he was visiting for dinner."

"Well!" Hazelle exclaimed, "I can't just invite you in without offering you breakfast! What would you like, Prim?"

Setting my jacket over the back of a chair, I told her,

"I've already eaten thank you."

It was a lie. The Hawthornes struggled tremendously in the Seam, and I didn't want to waste any of their food. Katniss would be back with some for us any minute, I knew.

Hazelle started working on our laundry. She started cleaning my dress for the reaping, I thought.

It must have been out loud too, because Rory told me he would be so upset if I were to be chosen for the reaping.

"I would be too, if you were chosen." I told him.

"I must get going though!" I yelled to Hazelle. I was now starving. "I'll be back in an hour or so to get the clothes!"

"Okay!" She replied.

I rushed out the door, forgetting how cold it was outside. Just as I remembered I had brought a jacket, Rory walked out onto the front steps, and held out my jacket to me.

I put my arms in the sleeves, and he helped me zip the jacket up.

Rory was so perfect. I smiled up at him, and I was wondering what it was like to kiss him, because I really really wanted to.

Apparently he was thinking the same thing, because he slowly pressed his lips against mine and gave me a quick peck. It wasn't much, but it was enough to make the both of us turn bright pink.

I smiled at him, and kissed him again, longer this time, and as soon as we pulled away I ran home.

I got into bed and pretended to sleep, so when Katniss came home she wouldn't suspect a thing.
