It was a promise we made long ago. Do you remember it? It was at the field. The one with all the flowers. It was at night. It was a full moon that night. You caught a firefly in your hand. Do you remember the tickling feeling you had as it crawled on your skin?
Remember I laughed as you stared at me? I smiled at you and you smiled at me. Were you happy? We laid down and looked at the sky. Do you remember what you said? Those words still ring in my head even now. You said as you held my hand that we would always be together. I didn't believe you. I told you that you were being dumb. All you did was smile that I loved.
Do you remember what you did after that? You looked me in the eye and told me in your gentle voice. You said I cross my heart. I smiled. I was happy as we sat there in the glow of fireflies and the moonlight. Do you know how happy it made me? I blushed and was glad the night could hide it.
Remember what I told you? I said, You better not forget this promise. I looked at you then you laughed. Of course I won't, you said to me. Your hand still clasped mine. I wonder is that still true. Did you forget me? Did you forget everything?
Remember what happened next? You were so bold. You leaned over. Do you remember it? You stole my first kiss. I was just a child and didn't know how to react. I just sat there frozen. You laughed at me and told me I had a strange look on my face. I was so mad at that. I hit you on the arm and stuck out my tongue. I could tell that it didn't hurt.
I remember. You said sorry and hugged me. That made me happy. I always treasured that night. A life time ago yet I still remember it. Do you remember it? Do you care about it? I don't think you would. You changed so much, yet you look the same to me.
Why do I have to fight against you? Tonight will your sword be against my neck? Or will It be the other way around? Will you feel any sadness if I die? Will you cry? No, I don't think you will.
You are standing in front of me now. My sword is out and pointed at you. I won't stand a chance but I will fight. Can you see it? My hands are shaking. Can you tell? I feel like I'm about to cry. I won't allow myself to. I will stand my ground.
