The Lion, the Raven, the Badger and the Serpent.
Chapter 1- Welcome
"The first of the students are arriving, quick, hurry up, hurry up!" cried an impatient voice while heading swiftly into a vast hall, his cloak billowing majestically behind him.
There were two long tables in this massive room, which were topped with goblets, plates, cutlery and an assortment of food and drinks. The roof was showing a part of the universe still undiscovered by ordinary people.
At the far end of the hall there was one long table with four magnificent wooden chairs behind it. Behind these chairs, going from the ceiling to the floor stretched a tapestry showing four animals: a serpent, a lion, a badger and a raven.
Rowenna Ravenclaw led a small bunch of petrified looking eleven year olds into the great hall where they walked across the hall and seated themselves along the two tables.
Salazar Slytherin was seated in the far left chair at the head table and was surveying the incoming pupils with interest. He was wearing bottle green robes with silver trimmings. His shoulder length hair was black but was slightly streaked with grey. Godric Gryffindor was sitting beside him.
Godric Gryffindor radiated a sense of enormous power as he looked down at his first students with delight. There weren't many there but he knew that if he hadn't allowed students of muggle parentage that there would be a lot less. He was a middle-aged handsome wizard, with black hair that never seemed to stay put. He also had startling blue eyes.
As Rowenna sat down next to him after finishing seating the students, he smiled nervously at her.
"Sorry for shouting earlier, I'm just absolutely terrified that something will go wrong!" he said apologetically to her.
She threw her sheet of shimmering red hair back from her face as she turned to face him. She had eyes that were as green as his were blue. She looked at him for a moment before smiling.
"Don't worry about it. Now hurry up and give the speech. I expect they're starving." she said.
She turned to her left and began talking to a slightly rotund witch with curly blond hair and a kind, smiling face. Helga Hufflepuff was seated at the end of the head table and looked up as Godric started his speech to welcome the first students to attend "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry".
