In this particular moment, I am content.
With the soft wisps of his blonde hair gently caressing my forehead as I lean on his shoulder.
Morning is gently rising over the horizon, and we, together, enjoy this moment on the couch, his fingers gently stroking my hair.
If this isn't bliss - pure, unmarred bliss - I am unaware as to what is.
This moment is sweet, and I savor it with all I can muster.
But then, it ends.
Ring ring ring ring ring, BANANA PHO-
Felix grunts and reluctantly removes his hands from their pleasant tangle in my hair, about to tap the 'Ignore' button on his phone. I then notice who it's from.
"Felix," I sigh, "You'd better take it. It's from Marzia. She's probably still upset about the break-up." I cringe ever-so-slightly at the thought of that innocent girl, her happy couple split up because of Felix's feelings... for me. Although, in retrospect, I don't think of it that way. I think of it as me, the greed-ridden dragon, ensuring that the prince doesn't rescue his damsel.
Immature, I know. But it seems to be a good comparison, in my messed-up state of mind.
I almost didn't notice Felix's reply.
He smiles, patting my shoulder. The ringtone had already ceased to meet my ears.
"Too late, anyway." He teased, standing up.
She'll call back soon, I know that.
But that's not on my mind.
On my mind is that my moment is gone.
And reality smacks me in the face.
