Yeah, this is short. And no, there's no more. Harry Potter and all related characters (c) J.K. Rowling
It was impossible to walk through those halls without once thinking about his dark, too-long hair and the way it fell in front of his deep soulful eyes. It was excruciating just to glance up at the portraits on the walls because, one way or another, the frames' inhabitants all resembled him in some way, whether it was the unmistakable arch of their eyebrows or the way their noses had just the right shape. Everywhere Remus looked he was reminded of him, and there seemed to be no escape. Day in and day out, no matter how hard he tried to forget, to rid his mind of those memories so saturated with angst and joy and confusion, the painful picture of Sirius Black wouldn't leave him alone. The way his eyes had darted to Harry before he plummeted through that veil, as if he hadn't had enough time to give Remus one last look as well, was haunting him. He couldn't even close his eyes for a moment without recalling how Sirius's one track mind had gone straight to Harry, not even giving him a thought. He was ashamed to admit that he had adopted a spark of resentment ever since that day and, no matter how hard he tried, couldn't seem to put it out. What was wrong with him? He was the only one left to take care of Harry now that they were gone.
They were gone. Every one of them. Remus was the last one left.
