Icy cold eyes are burning into mine,

Glorying in their hate and their desire,

Red lips curved in a parody of love,

Happy that now I belong only to her.

--

Proud and regal beauty is now shadowed

Under a veil of honeyed wanton lust;

Promises of enspelled Turkish delight

Seem bitter compared to her painful need.

--

The guilt and shame felt on deserting her

Falls away as do tight bonds unknotted.

We circle as though in final embrace;

Dancing in mockery of the last waltz.

--

Her graceful move slips through my guard.

Broken wand sharper than Cupid's arrow

Does kiss me, piercing my body and soul;

More poignant than two young lovers' first touch.

--

Pale soft cheek flushes a delicate pink,

Wild eyes flare in a passion triumphant;

Breast no longer heaving, want now sated,

Betrayal healed by her old deep magic.

--

Sounds of battle do grow quiet and dim,

Bright sun fades as she turns away from me,

Seeking another to greet with red blade;

The lush sward grows crimson with my heart's blood.
