Shikamaru's Troublesome Girl
Hanasaki Tataharu sighed while she played her chess game alone. She would make a move, then make another, seeing which strategy would pan out the way she wanted it to; if it was the best and fastest way. She looked out the window as she soundly beat herself for the fifth time in a row and sighed. She wished something a little interesting would happen.
Just as the thought crossed her mind, Shikamaru Nara knocked on her door and let himself in. he new it would be ok with the orange haired kunoichi.
"Hey." He grunted as he sat down across from her and began resetting the board for a new game.
Hana pointedly continued to stare out the window until the last piece had been set in place. Then she cocked her head to the side and shook it in disapproval. "Come on Shika-kun, you know better than that, I hate being white." She complained.
Shikamaru sighed in exasperation. He swore she just liked pushing his buttons. "But it's proper courtesy to allow a girl to go first." he mumbled in reply.
Hana just snorted. "Screw all that chivalry crap!" she cried, looking severely annoyed. "You go first, and that's that." She folded her arms, stubborn as ever.
"Fine…" Shikamaru grumbled as he switched the board around and made his move. "How troublesome."
They played for a while, but when it became clear that both weren't really into the game, they packed it up and just sat in front of the open window, enjoying the breeze and watching the clouds.
"Hey, Shikamaru?" Hana asked.
"Hmm?" he sighed in reply
"What are your thoughts on marriage?"
"WHAT!" he cried sitting up and staring wide eyed at his friend.
"No, no! Not like that, like, you always say marriage is troublesome, and well, why do you think people get married? Because it's expected of them, because they have to?" She mused still looking at the sky.
Shikamaru sighed. "Because it's what people do. Some people believe in love, but well, I don't know."
"Oh."
He looked over at her, and saw she looked kinda sad. "But, well, if you, well, I…and …ahh, this is too troublesome." He completed, rubbing the back of his head in frustration.
Hana looked over and saw him blushing and smiled to herself.
"Yeah, yeah… well I say you're the troublesome guy!" she grinned back and gave him a slap on the back.
He looked at her sulkily and laid back down, looking at the clouds, and Hana did the same.
As they watched the fluffy clouds blow by far above, they both had the same thought, blushing secretly to themselves.
'How troublesome.'
