First Experience
The half-moon shines bright
Over a group of cats in the starlight.
One, two, three, four, the fifth one small,
But she had the greatest destiny of them all.
As they approached the opening of a cave
The fifth one did not look too brave.
The tom next to her purred and said,
"Don't be afraid; I'll go first instead."
He led the way, deeper and deeper,
The tunnel getting steeper and steeper.
And then the scent of heather touched their noses,
The sweet aroma was just like roses.
They had reached the Moonstone's place
The moon rose higher, as if it was chased.
Then, suddenly, light flooded in.
It was like stars had lit the Moonstone from within.
The tomfrom before stepped forward and mewed,
"Warriors of StarClan, this apprentice wishes to share with you.
She has taken to the ways of a Medicine Cat,
And to complete the ceremony, with you she must chat."
The small one stepped forward anxiously,
And the others nodded encouragingly.
Taking a deep breath, she touched her nose to the stone,
And was whisked away to a land of starlight and was widely known.
When she opened her eyes she gasped aloud,
For before she stood a starlight cloud.
A piece broke off and became a feline,
And it took her a few moments to realize
The cat was a tom with a crooked jaw.
He came and meowed, "Welcome, young 'paw'.
You have a great destiny, and you must be prepared,
But don't be scared."
"Your ancestors will walk alongside you, every step of the way.
Whether it be night, or it be day."
The young "paw" straightens up and states,
"I will try my best at all challenges."
The warrior purred, "That's the spirit!
There will be different cats that visit."
With that he started to fade away, along with the dream.
Then the new apprentice woke up; the first one to, it seemed.
The others stirred,
One looking slightly disturbed.
The tom that was her mentor saw
And asked, "Are you ready, Cloudpaw?"
She turned to him,
Eyes bright in the dim,
And meowed,
"Yes, I am now."
