Ianto looked up and saw Tosh, disbelief written across her face. She scrambled to her feet and ran across the platform, her heels clicking.
Ianto got to his feet and followed, curious, his heart still pained with memories of the dead Captain.
Then Ianto looked around the pillar, and there he was.
Jack.
Ianto's eyes were huge blue saucers. He stared in disbelief and felt his heart clench with pain. Even so, he felt his feet moving, heard his black shoes click against the hard floor.
Ianto's eyes were growing damp and he held out a hand.
Ianto realized he was shaking.
Jack gave him the ghost of a smile.
Jack looked like death. Dark circles under his eyes; his face pale as a ghost.
Well, he has just been dead, dofus, Ianto thought as Jack pulled him into an embrace. Ianto's arms immediately locked around Jack, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Like puzzle pieces fitting together.
Ianto squeezed his eyes shut and let himself be comforted, Jack's warmth seeping into his bones.
And suddenly Jack's whispering something. So faint Ianto could barely hear it, but it was most certainly there.
"I love you. I love you."
Jack was repeating it over and over, whispering it into the younger man's ear.
Ianto pulled back, felt eyes burrowing into his back as he leaned forward, pressing his lips to Jack's, letting his tongue explore the inside of the Captain's mouth.
Coffee, Ianto thought, his hands gripping Jack's hips.
One of Jack's hands lie gently on Ianto's neck while the other was locked around his neck, holding him still.
A memory floated to the surface and Ianto smiled a bit against Jack's lips.
Jack had kissed him once before, when Lisa had almost killed him and attempted to take over Torchwood.
But this was their first real kiss.
Ianto was happy. He never wanted this moment to end. It was perfect.
