What if: Jack never found Rose attempting suicide.

Rose ran as fast as her heels would allow her to as tears streamed down her face. She was desperate to escape this damn hell she was living in she just couldn't stand it anymore. This was not the life she wanted to live it was far from it. She knew once she was off this ship it would be time to marry Cal and she could think of nothing worse than being stuck with that egotistical bastard. She neared the end of the ship and slowed her pace, wiping her tears away hastily as she opened the gate. She wasn't thinking straight- she knew that. She walked slowly toward the railing and slowly gripped it with both hands, trembling as she did. She closed her eyes as she climbed over to the other side keeping a firm grip on the railing as she did.

She slowly opened her eyes, heart racing, and looked out at the ocean. Before she had climbed over the railing she had been certain this was what she wanted; an everlasting escape from the clutches of her mother and cal. But as she peered down at the dark water she realised just how terrified she felt. She loosened her grip, telling herself to just let go, to fall and get lost in the endless waters. Her mind was screaming at her so loudly but her grip wouldn't loosen anymore.

Then suddenly, as if waking up from a dream, she realised exactly what she was doing. The silent tears still ran down her face as she realised that she just couldn't do it. She squeezed her eyes shut as the adrenaline wore off.

The cold hit her like a punch but she still didn't move. It took another minute or two before she turned around and climbed back over. She just stood there, wiping at her face and smoothing down her dress. She felt so stupid and very embarrassed. She glanced over her shoulder and shook her head.

Taking a deep breath she started a slow walk back to her room composing herself as she did. She wanted to forget this night ever happened.
