The Lovegoods Locket

She woke with a start. Blinded by morning light, she sat up in her fourposter bed and yawned. The other ravenclaws in the dormitory were sleeping soundly, in their dream worlds, living in their own fantasys.

She pondered for a moment. What had woke her? Was it the sweet symphony of the birds? Or maybe that her dreams woke her? She didn't know.

She quickly snatched her bag from her side table, threw on a blue woollen hoodie and a Scarlett skirt, and skipped merrily down the stairs leading to ravenclaw dormitory. It was a peaceful room, complete with a beautiful galaxy sealing. Luna spotted an
empty table by the window and sat down at it, her bag in her arms.

Opening her bag, she was deep in thought. In this bag, lay something that meant the world to her. Her father had given her a small wooden box, patterned with blue hummingbirds and tulips. It was her mothers old jewllery box, a precious object. She had
opened it many times but yet, nothing lay within.

But today she was going to do it. She was going to open it. She reached into her blue denim bag, trembling with exitment. Luna rummaged through the jungle of objects, picking up Gurdyroot, cat litter, toadstools, 3 grubby quibblers and a pair of
spectrespecs before finding the small, carved box. She ran her fingers along its pine wood box and began trying to solve the it.

An hour later, She still hadn't opened it. Lunas fingers were numb and painful. But she wouldn't give up. For another five minutes she fumbled and stroked the box. Until... Luna traced one of the blue hummingbirds, one that had a yellow head while all
of the others had green. Suddenly, it clicked. Her heart beated with hope and joy. It slid open and revealed a small space.

Luna streached out a ringed finger to reach the thing inside and hooked it out. It felt cold, but yet a strange auror of warmth surged from it. Clasping it tightly, she tugged at it until it fully emurged.

It was the most gorgeous thing Luna had ever seen. A carved metal star locket sat in her palm. It was cloked in plants made of gold. Suddenly, as Luna marvelled over this strange object, a voice whispered in a melodic, soft tone.

It said "Hello, dear Luna, my sweet little daughter, I am so proud to call you my child. And yes they might tease you, and hurt you and be mean to you, but you ignore them. I will always be with you, until you join me. So remember, sweet Luna, I
love you a lot."

Her heart lit with joy, as if there was a purring thestral flying around her chest. Her mother still remembered her. She looked down at the star and sighed. She could not fail her mother!
